Boyata must be exhausted running around in that heat carrying Vardy in his back pocket

Looked as good as the cart horse that plays for MUFC and England - Jones. How much would people say the England player is worth?

Considering that he gets plenty of stick week in, week out, if he wasn't our player and we were linked with him, would you look forward to him signing for us (purely based on what we have seen at the World Cup)?

We'd all be ecstatic signing him for £7m right now based on World Cup performances.

Then he'd get bullied out the game by Morellos next year, give the ball away to Windass for a goal, etc. then we'd realise his concentration is poor and we were stung.
Inaccurate and irrelevant. Any EPL side that gets Boyata for £15M has got a bargain. He'll do well down there I reckon.

Good game tonight. A couple of ropey moments but as good as any other defender on the pitch.

He is best at defending in our team. That's not his problem. It's when he has time on the ball and gifts possession, but that was a lot less evident in the last couple of months of the season. Happy to see him extend his contract, but if we are to cash in we need a solid experienced defender to replace him. Ajer has the potential to be much better that Boyata, but still has a lot to learn.

The well publicised howlers he's made at Celtic are irrelevant as to how he's rated as opposed to a few good games in a world class team at international level? Ok.

£15m bargain Boyata :ffs:

I think we are all guilty of over analysing our players. I'm really bad for it. We expect nothing but 100 percent perfection every game and every mistake is scrutinised. Yeah that's football but at this point we have one of the greatest managers in our history at the helm. Happy to sit back and enjoy the ride

"well publicised"

Boyata is doing the business on the biggest stage of all, and tonight marshalled the Belgian defence against England: clean sheet. I'd say he's worth more than 15M in that market, but it's a happy situation for us either way. He's quite young is he not?

Anyway, your opinion is remarkable in its negativity.

What were they then? Secret

He’s 27. Already been in England and was that highly rated that he was moved on for a nominal fee.

I genuinely hope Celtic are basing their signing policy on more than a few World Cup games. It’s not a wise strategy. I’m not negative at all. I think £7m is a good price, especially with 12 months to go. If his performances lead some team to pay £15m I’ll dance a jig of happiness.

We got 7+ for Armstrong when Boyata is a similar age and has the same contract situation but is a more important player for us, counts as home grown for English clubs and having a good World Cup for a top nation.

These are good points and I hope you’re right.

But any half decent scout is also going to have a dossier of boyata’s many lapses in concentration against weak opposition.

He's been fairly decent so far , if he goes on to be even better and they win it or get to the final , many managers will want to snap him up at a great price ( for us) . They'll base it on his current form , Dossiers Be Damned !

Trust me. There were a couple of times he got caught out. Skinned once by one of the England players in the second half can't mind who. I think he had a good game but lets not pretend he was perfect.

If you are looking for the perfect player you'll be looking long after I'm gone. He is a quality defender who we should be pleased to count as part of our squad. I hope he gets a good offer from the club and takes it.

It was pace that got him both times with his back to goal. Vardy to set up Rashford and Loftus Cheek shortly after. He was very good otherwise with his passing and positioning. Appears to marshal those around him well playing for Belgium too.

Vardy and Rashford have skinned most centre halves in the EPL for pace, they are two rapid players, I don't see that as a bad mark against Boyata.

£7m for Boyata

Does anyone seriously think Celtic could replace a 27-year old, athletic, fast and tall central defender with Champions League experience and 10 caps for the 3rd best ranked international team (with 3 of those caps earned at the 2018 World Cup), for £7m ? :ponder:

Ive always rated Boyata apart from over a year ago when he sometimes let nerves get the better of him.

Some observers were quick to criticise him for the occasional mistake but what an athlete!
