I would love for the people who want shot of Dedryk to come up with some affordable replacements. I tend to watch tournaments like the WC with an eye on the positions we might need to strengthen, so far I can't see anyone who we could go for.
Dedryk is a good player, our best Centre Back, who has his flaws. Finding better aint that simple.
Even big Virgil was prone to some massive howlers in his time.
IMO, selling him would be a big, big mistake.
Attracting better to Scotland is an issue...unless you get lucky and find a VVD....not many of them around though....in fact....reading some of the stuff on KDS, quite a few have expectations that just cannot be matched

Hopefully our scouting reaches beyond the telly
If someone on kds can't name a better player, who we can afford, then it means they don't exist. I scout therefore I am.

Thought that it was his error to play the 2 opposition players onside, letting one of them have a free header. Either play them offside, or get goal side of them

The point was smart erse that I haven't seen any better at the World Cup we could afford or attract. 24/7 there is Football on from all over the World, so the telly isn't that bad a place to look...….( Wee smillie face)
I'm sure someone on here who wants rid of Dedryk could come up with maybe one player who could replace him, no?

Can you provide examples of defenders you have 'scouted' on the TV and decided they are out of Celtic's financial reach or don't want to come to Celtic?

I’m far from his biggest fan but I don’t think it’s fair to level any criticism at him for his WC performances.
The biggest compliment I could pay him is that he didn’t look the “worst defender” out of the 3 (him and the 2 Spurs lads) whose names I’ll probably not be able to spell.

Assessing defenders at the World Cup and deciding there are none better than Boyata that we can afford or will come to the club. As if you have a clue
PS. Fabian Schar is a better player. He supposedly has a £3.5m release clause. And we're linked with him in Spanish newspapers (see below). Did you scout him?

See here: Football World Cups are good for many things, but if there is one thing that 'sets' the players, they have a perfect chance to put themselves in the window. That happened to Fabian Schär at the World Cup in Russia on Sunday. After an irregular campaign of the Swiss central with Deportivo, his great performance in Brazil-Switzerland has put him, even more, in the mouth of many, especially after that Miranda shot that he took on the same goal line on the last play of the match In the last weeks, even before the decline of Dépor to the Second Division was official, there are several teams that have been associated to take over the services of Schär. As is the case of Celtic, Hannover 96 or Lazio. Schär sealed a commitment for four seasons with the herculine box last summer, but in the same, after the descent, an exit clause is contemplated easily assumable by Spanish and foreign clubs of first level. This clause of cancellation is four million euros, a figure similar to that which Deportivo paid to incorporate it. Therefore, the entity of A Coruña, in case of sale, will recover the investment made, but will not obtain a surplus value for one of its assets in the backbone axis. In his first year as a blue and white player, Schär has played 27 games (25 in LaLiga and two in the Copa del Rey). In them, he has accumulated 2,401 minutes, in which he has scored two goals and has given two assists. http://eldesmarque.com/coruna/deportivo/noticias/19375-schar-se-pone-en-el-escaparate

We were linked with him before the World Cup, so I didn't bother 'scouting' him, as I'm sure celtic have watched him a few times on the telly.

I think you will probably find that it's Simunovic we are looking to replace. Aye, sure, but Boyata has just 12 months left on his contract. Its primetime for him to go if he doesn't sign another - especially with his stock high after a decent showing at the World Cup. Its obviously best if we kept him for the CL qualifiers, but £7m is a helluva deal for someone of his level.
Then you can write into Celtic with all your scouting insights from BBC1 and STV

He's effing crap. We're robbing any sucker who pays £7m for him. Hopefully potential suitors won't watch the 2-3 Huns game when he got ragdolled by several average players.
