Is he as bad as we think he is? If he's in the top 4 centre backs in Belgium there must be something there....?
No, and he's probably as good as the more knowledgeable folks have been saying he is. ;)

Is he as bad as we think he is?
Yes. He's a footballer who can't play football. Or concentrate.

There's been loads of shampoo-to-middling players played in World Cups for better teams that this Belgium side.

If we got the same as is being reported for Armstrong (£6m) for Boyata then i'd be happy at that.
If we spent £6m on a defender and ended up with someone with the "talents" of Boyata, I'd be fecking raging.

Boyata is far better than many on here seem believe. Just think, we could be Man City and have spent 50m on John Stones.

I'd be happy enough for Boyata to stay put and stay fit.

He's doing the same as Armstrong. People seem far more sympathetic to Boyata for some reason.

Possibly because Armstrong appears arrogant and uncommitted. Boyata has been asked to play the ball out of defence in a purist fashion that didn't suit his strengths. Latterly he was given license to play pragmatically which did. Unless Brendan develops recognition that there is more than one way to play football (and thus make it harder for opponents to prepare tactically), I think if an adequate offer was made he'd be sold too.

At this stage we should be actively trying to punt him.

Last year of his deal, refusing to sign the one on the table, get whatever we can for him and get a replacement in pronto.

If he isn't signing a new contract and he is in his last year then we have to sell, same with Armstrong. Get as much as we can and reinvest that money to improve.

He isn't good enough to be running down his contract.

“I still have a year on my contract and we will see after the summer if I continue with Celtic again.”

Armstrong hasn't came out and said anything near this. Like I say, for some reason Armstrong is getting it in the neck ( by the main ) for his apparent "attitude" and this clownshoe is getting away with letting us know what he's going to do depending on how his Wolrd Cup goes?

Away you effing go. (DB)

“I am in talks with the club,” Boyata said last night. “I have said it before that I am happy here.

“Right now, nothing is done and it’s not like I can actually say what is going to be done,” he added. “But I am in talks and we are trying to find some sort of arrangement.

“I am happy here. I have been talking a lot with the manager and trying to find a solution.

Doesnt sound like he is going out of his way to be difficult or run down his contract

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Bayern Munich at home.
Ibrox and Bayern were the 2 obvious ones I was thinking of.
its amazing how people always go on about these, mistakes happen our captain caused more goals in europe last year yet his thread isnt full of posts constantly bringing it up. Boyata is still our best CB.

Tbh I'd be happy for him to sign an extension, which is a change for me.
He's turned himself around before & did wonders last year with his mid night training sessions.
He's a good player if he sticks to his strengths & maybe the manager now knows this too.
