His passing and composure on the ball is his weakess, got us into trouble a few times. At actually defending i.e Heading , marking , tackling , pushing people out wide etc. He is class , best we have.
Exactly this. Dublin picked out Boyata’s biggest weakness as his biggest strength, showing he knows nothing about him. It would be like praising Pirlo’s pace or Messi’s heading.
Players at his level are used to being given time on the ball; in Scotland that is a luxury - as my generation used to say, if we had time to play, we would all be Bobby Murdoch... who of course invented fitba' time.

Some of his biggest errors have come in Europe. In what country is he 'getting time on the ball'?

I thought Boyata's form towards the end of the season was by far the best that I'd ever seen from him.

Panama weren't going to trouble them too much. If he keeps Kane quiet and has a good game then we might start to get decent offers or want to keep him.
Both England and Belgium will be qualified by the time they meet and both regardless of group finishing position will be facing a winnable last 16 tie, so I doubt anyone on either team will be bursting their balls to win that game. It’ll probably be the first 0-0 of the tournament.

The commentator in the stream I was watching on kept calling him "Botaya." Anyway, good to see a Celtic player playing for one of the best teams at the World Cup. Difficult to judge his performance considering the opposition. I hope he gets a game against Tunisia and England too. A decent game against England might get him a move to one of the lesser Premiership sides.

Remember Alan Green calling Paul Lambert by the French pronunciation when BVB knocked Man United out at the SF stage of 1997's CL. He had no idea he was Scottish initially.

The internet has made it easy for these buffoons to understand nothing but sound more knowledgeable, they rarely love the game as someone in their position should, I think Derek Rae was a recent exception, he knew facts and figures as a labor of love not as a third party research tool to kill the quiet seconds.

One slack pass near the end, but comfortable other than that. Dont think I saw him sprint in the whole game.

That'd be a guaranteed £15m for us. The English love buying up the players who slay them.

aye but he cant bring it out from the back, thats a weakness.
Why is a weakness?
Because we've all seen him play. Not knocking the big man, but that's not a great part of his game.

When Boyata keeps it simple, he can be excellent. He thinks he's better than he is and gets complacent, which leads to the daft mistakes we know he makes. If Brendan can get that out of his head -- and signs are that he has -- the big man is the best defender we have. I'd like to keep him.

Except that the biggest mistakes he's made that stick in my mind have been when he was doing simple, basic things.
For sure we'd need to replace him, but surely if any decent offer short of giving him away cpmes in and we'll snap it up?

Dion Dublin's pre-match assessment of Boyata once again betrayed the utter lack of knowledge the English media are taking into this tournament: "He's a good player who can bring it out of defence and play a bit." Brilliant, Dion. Away back to your Dube.
Or Celtic fans are incredibly harsh on him? And he’s much better than a lot of folk think.
Agree with this.

yeah that was my point, it was more to say dublin should stick to the auctions rather than talking about Celtic players as he clearly hadn't done any research.

Tend to agree, but wouldn't that put a £30m price tag on Griffiths? :o
