He really is not taking it well, is he? In fact, most of those I have met since Sunday have been behaving similarly.

Bet he was drumming the fingers of his right hand against his leg again as Owen kept coming out with the superlatives.

It was cracking me up the way he was doing this on Sportscene the other night, a sure sign he was in turmoil.

What was Coyle saying bout him ?
"Good signing. Intelligent and strong player"

When Dick Wilson said he had heard he "was too nice", Coyle laughed that off and asked who Wilson had been talking to :cuckoo:

Wilson REALLY doesn't try to hide his hunnish tendencies anymore!

Not very enthusiastic about this signing at all but hope it works out.
Are you Dick Wilson?

Wilson on BBC just now "Is he too nice", "why hasn't he played more games", "why did no English team want him", "will Celtic get their money back", "why so cheap"

Comments which could have been made about Wanyama, Denayer, VVD, etc ;)
He said he had offers from other clubs, in his press conference.
In fact he said he wouldn't name them, then said "So when Chels.. erm Celtic came for me"

Future Belgian superstar, snubs Chelsea for The Hoops... is not a headline you would read in the Daily Record.

Ironically if Richard Wilson and his fellow zombies applied such a negative critique to their own entity they wouldnt have been rode by every charlatan in town.

No. The situation isn't in any way similar to that of Wanyama, VVD or Denayer. He is a 24 year old who has barely kicked a ball in his career. As I said, I hope it works out well.

I've never seen the guy play. Reports from those who have are mixed. His first team opportunities have been relatively scarce for a 24-year-old but it seems plenty think there's considerable potential here. RD was obviously handed the job due to his enthuiasm and ability for maximising previously under developed talent. As such this signing fits that profile perfectly.

It seems a move RD was keen on and it will be interesting to see how Boyata develops. I'm sure he will cope fine domestically but Europe is another level. It's an intriguing and exciting buy but some caution is understandable.

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/manchester-city-celtic-boyata-9376634?

Dedryck Boyata’s departure for Celtic marks the end of an era for Manchester City.

His £1.5million move means that the last of the 2008 FA Youth Cup-winning team has now gone, the end of a promising generation that became casualties of the takeover that occurred just a few months after their triumph over Chelsea.

Boyata made it plain after his arrival at the Bhoys was confirmed, that the future for himself and the likes of Vladimir Weiss, Ben Mee and Kieran Trippier, changed irrevocably when Sheikh Mansour’s millions came to town.

Man City transfers: Celtic confirm Dedryck Boyata signing

The route to the first team, which had already been trod by the precocious talent from that youth team Daniel Sturridge, suddenly became twice as tough.

Sturridge left to join Chelsea, Mee and Trippier became Burnley stalwarts and Boyata was suddenly the man most likely to make the break, when Roberto Mancini placed his faith in him for the two legs of the League Cup semi-final against United.

Wayne Rooney and Dedryck BoyataDedryck Boyata gets stuck into Wayne Rooney
Boyata, unfeasibly calm and collected for one of such tender years, was named as Young Player of the Season and even won his first Belgium cap.

But a silly red card in a 3-0 home defeat against Arsenal saw him sidelined once again by Mancini, and loan spells at FC Twente and Bolton – where he played most of his games out of position at right-back – did little to enhance his City chances.

To Boyata’s credit, his attitude was good, he kept plugging away, and the arrival of Manuel Pellegrini, and the fact that he was the only club-grown player in the first-team squad, brought a revival of fortunes.

Dedryck Boyata out from the cold and makes most of his second chance

The Chilean manager rated him above Matija Nastasic in the centre half pecking order, and his best City performance for five years came in his sole league appearance of last season, in the 4-1 win at Sunderland.

The departure of the last of the Class of 2008, and the only club-produced player from last season’s first-team squad, will no doubt raise concerns about the efficacy of City’s academy set-up.

But Boyata was a product of Jim Cassell’s fruitful era, which - excellent as it was - catered for a different era in the club’s history, an era where there were no £40million centre backs blocking the path.

Manchester City future in safe hands

City’s modern academy can only be judged over the next five to ten years, not on the basis of the departure of a player who joined the club in 2006 and ended up playing 28 first-team games.

Boyata has gone, but his younger Belgian colleague Jason Denayer, who he replaces at Celtic, is already in the running to claim a first-team squad place, along with Karim Rekik and Marcos Lopes, who all represent the first wave of the new City academy set-up.

I don't think I'm being negative. I am proceeding with caution, which I think is logical given the player's career so far.
