Good enough for the Scottish game but if we hope to hold our own in Europe we need some work to be done on the defence. I'm not going overboard because he dominated a useless carrot like Cummings.

Absolute masterclass in defending, kept it simple and get him on a long term deal.
OK.
That's plenty.
Behave.

That’s harsh. Boyata was excellent.

Watching the re-run, his block to stop Morelos potentially scoring was brilliant. At the time I thought Gordon had blocked it.

Yes he was excellent yesterday against hopeless carrots. That's my point.

He looked his age yesterday, which we need him to be more often.
Held it together & looked like a very good CB.

Punt, he doesn't do it often enough.
Sums it up for me too.

Credit where it's due for yesterday but we've been here before.

Does that apply to our whole team then? Or just Boyata?

Was Eduardo excellent v a pish defence?

Was Broony excellent v a pish Dorrans?

How far do we take this?

I still think we need better, but he was unusually good yesterday. He wasn't just contesting high balls and winning them, he was jumping ahead of opposition players to intercept the ball & being proactive time and time again. He slides in to win a ball a hun thinks is comfortably his to knock it to Forrest for the 2nd goal. For the first, he's operating as one of a front two with Edouard  Edouard goes to the front post and Boyata goes to the back post. That goal comes from open play, yet he's our most advanced player at parts of it

highlights here for reference

If he played like that every week he'd be first pick for Belgium

Getting on a bit

He did have a good game yesterday, but you need to balance that against who he was up against. Or not, to be more precise, in that they offered no real threat. He did win the ball in a couple of thumping tackles though but he needs to do it against tougher opposition.

If we go into qualifiers with him at CH its a poor show..not good enough to error prone.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep

I get your drift but this is a thread about Boyata.. The whole team turned up yesterday and played well against poor opposition it must be said. That doesn't happen too often and I don;t deny Boyata played his part very well in the hun slaughter. I don't trust him against the superior opposition we will meet outside Scotland.

One mistake aside I thought he was excellent, very frustrating seeing him play like that again after a pretty poor season.

When he stops trying to play football and keeps it simple he can play like that. He may still have the odd brainfart but the key is for him to know when to pass or when it’s too risky for him to pass. His defending is good at this level.

The past few weeks he has taken no risks, put the ball out for throw ins when he was under pressure. That one eff up he made today was when he tried to be too clever with Lafferty on top of him.

Another good game from the big man again today, hopefully that adds a bit of value to his transfer fee this summer.

Is the real Boyata back at the factory being fixed? Stay there.

Last two games he has been immense and dominated. When he keeps it simple he is so effective.
