He had a good game, but there were faults. He was bailed out by Gordon 3 times. First when he completely lost Morelos for his header. Then, from the subsequent corner when Alves had his header. Then at Morelos' sitter - he stands and watches Lustig's ridiculous slice, and doesn't react until it hits the bar. Morelos, for all he's a complete diddy of a player, at least showed some anticipation and was moving before the ball hit the bar.

An utterly frustrating player, because he showed for much the rest of the game that he can be dominant.
Agree with this. He was poor on all three occasions mentioned.

I thought he was better today considering his early brainfart usually causes his play to deteriorate quickly. Was better than Ajer overall.

Still needs to go and should be granted his wish to leave in the summer.

He played well today but was at fault for the 3 chances Rangers had. Still needs replacing for me.

Looking at the highlights moravcik is right about him getting caught for the morelos header, but like you say the whole team had really switched off completely at that point.

I Think the 3 mistakes people are highlighting just exemplify the problem with Boyata. Concentration.

I think he's a good player, good on the ball, can carry it, quick & strong etc. But he just bloody dally's at times & switches off - and that (for me) is the root of the problems he has.

Thought him Ajer and Lustig had a few sloppy moments between them but we scored 4 and kept a clean sheet so wouldn’t go overboard with criticism.

Been told he's hugely popular with his team mates and does loads of extra work after training. Not that it's working particularly well, but fair play to him

I don't get this he done well yesterday stuff. After his eff up at the start, he done what was expected of a defender put under very little pressure, by a shampoo opposition. Even then he still had his lapses, although he wasn't anywhere near as bad as his partner yesterday.

He is a liability that needs punted if we are to improve this Summer. Going into the CL qualifiers/group stages and still having him partner Ajer, gives me the fear. BR's teams need to be comfortable on the ball, taking it in tight, sticky situations and playing it out. He is the opposite of that.

Didn't want the contract on offer, while on form and tbh I'm glad he knocked it back now. Upgrade required.

It's actually frustrating to watch him, he has all the attributes to be really good, but the thing that lets him down is concentration.

He's still got a year left, after next window.
Last year of contract, should get £3m or so?

Even with 4 years left on his deal he wouldn't be worth that.

We could get a few million for him easily.

Home grown player for English teams as well. Could add to his fee.

That's funny, because that's exactly the emotion I was showing after a few minutes at Ibrox last month.

Can he defend? Aye. A big, imposing unit for anyone. Is he prone to making unforced and costly errors? Aye. He's not good enough, it's that simple. We need better players in our defence, especially in Europe.

It's either posts about his decision making, awful passing and lack of concentration. Or posts waxing lyrical on the fact he's basically done his job and went through a game without making a carrot of it.

Some less scary moments on Sunday but Gordon had to make two saves from headers that both came from Boyata being outjumped.

I think we should try to get a better replacement for next season.

He is so frustrating in that he can actually defend very well and have a good game but then make one or two huge errors that cost the game/points. They type of defender who, when asked to play out from the back, will make more mistakes the more time he has on the ball and too much time to think about what he is doing. Ajer can have his moments also, but bear in mind he is a very young guy who has been converted from a midfielder and still learning so I think this is why he needs to be cut a bit more slack than Boyata and Simunovic. who are both older and more experienced.
Ajer passes the ball better and brings it out from the back much better than the other two, but is more prone to diving into challenges. Wouldn't be at all surprised if both Boyata and Simunovic are gone on the summer.
