Armstrong sold him up the river with one of his passes. Showed for the ball then turned his head and ran in the opposite direction.

Our free kick to their corner in about two nano seconds. Armstrong should have been hooked there and then , because that was cowardly.

He's not the answer if we want to make progress in Europe.

Passing was dodgy but defended well and put in more effort than his partner.

Yeah, thought his passing wasn't up to scratch - and at one point jozo had to bail him out. But he defended steadily enough.

Is the correct answer. Sold him down the river

Defended well.

He’ll never completely cut out the slack passes but a bit more movement in front of him would help. And I agree with the guys above about the Armstrong pass - Armstrong showed for the ball then turned away just as Boyata hit the pass.

He did his defensive stuff absolutely fine, it was bringing the ball out that he didn't cope with. But, to be fair to him, nobody in the team seemed to be able to pass the ball tonight and his options were severely limited by the players not being in adequate positions really. I feel a bit of sympathy for that reason.

Not only tonight, but Boyata. this is his game.this is all he offers. too many mistakes...too many pass backs...too many misplaced passes nearly every game he plays whether its Aberdeen or Anderlecht. its plain to see this guy is NOT a footballer. but he's all we've got right now.hopefully for not much longer....does my nut in how many times he plays the ball back or sideways.....no imagination whatsoever. oh for another VVD who could defend and carry the ball from defence.

1 or 2 misplaced passes in an otherwise solid display. I dont think we need to give him dugs abuse here.
This is my view on this too. Armstrong and Sinclair gave him zero passing options on the left made Boyata’s passing look much worse than it was.

If that's the criterion you'll be doing one helluva lot of punting out of that team last night!

He's a decent defender. Strong and aggressive usually.

But if we make him a permanent part of the defence you have to accept that he's going to make incomplete passes and have lapses in concentration more than once every game that could lead to goals, particularly in Europe.

People said Brendan could train that type of thing out of him. Obviously he's not managed it.

Agreed.
People have been dying to get back on his case for a while.
A few shocking passes, but, the movement was terrible in front of him and long balls over the top just isn't allowed in this team.

Was surprised to hear Larsson say the heart of the defence is out biggest problem after the match tbh

Let's be honest, he's good enough at domestic level. But he's not good enough if we want to make progress in Europe next year. He looks great sometimes and really shaky other times. A really consistent centre back is what we're crying out for and I'm sure it'll be high on the agenda for Rodgers in January/Summer.

Thought he did well defensively. Couple of bad passes, but he was hardly alone in that.

His passing wasn't good enough, but he kept us in the game in the first 30 minutes.
Absolutely. Some stinking passing notwithstanding, I thought he was defensively sound.

Laughably bad and liability? Behave people
