Just isn't good enough at CL level, always feel there is a mistake in him.
Not the greatest with the ball at his feet either. Most teams we play against let him have it as they know he is limited in his passing.
Daft mistake aside, I thought he was solid tonight. Don't recall his passing causing any trouble either.
I never said his passing caused us trouble, I said his passing was limited.
At CL level daft mistakes get punished.
I think he is prone to such mistakes and as such not good enough for CL.

Fan of Boyata but he has to anticipate that one tonight.

He did alright tonight, apart from that one major mistake. I can't believe as a centre half he hasn't put his head on that. You learn not to let the ball bounce at school level!

So unlike him to let the ball bounce which makes it all the more frustrating :ffs:

Played really well less that mistake for their goal. SHould have done better, but should also be receiving a shout from his GK.

The lapses in concentration are why Boyata plays for us and not Manchester City. That’s the reality because he has all the physical attributes to be a top, top centre back. But he makes mistakes, which lead to goals at the highest level. If he could cut that out of his game he’d be a £20 million player because some of his defensive qualities are outstanding.

Lest we forget, did the great Puyol not make a similar error against us when we last beat Barca? (Or was it Xavi?) Anyway same thing happened to gift us a chance versus Barca - so it can happen to anyone.
Silly error, but not so ridiculously silly.

Strange one, he was excellent in Brussels but cost us tonight.

Jozo or Erik would have stuck the head on that ball.

His physical attributes are what makes him Brendan’s favourite imo.

An absolute shocker for the goal. An embarrassing error. He was distraught at the end. The cruel nature of football means despite an otherwise very good showing his considerable efforts last night will be remembered by most for a moment of madness.

Armstrong's missed sitter was equally as poor and costly but in football it's typically only keepers and defenders who have their performance over 90 minutes dismissed on the basis of a single mistake.

Aye, even Broony made an (admittedly rubbish) effort at consoling him.

Do you think Boyata has that in his game, or was that was a one-off last night?

I don't know what he was thinking. Looked like he thought it was bouncing through to Gordon. Someone should be screaming at him to head it away. Maybe they were. He was actually decent apart from that but it's a big mistake.

Not going to chuck him under a bus. Every player makes mistakes, it was costly but I thought he still had a good game.
