You didn't see any slack passes against Hibs or Dundee then? :ponder:
I'd need to watch the game back but slack passes will happen. Especially when we are playing out from the back. The majority of his passes are very good.

He'll make near enough the most passes in the team probably so it's not surprising that some are 'slack'. I think he's actually really comfortable on the ball and 98% of the time does the right thing. I'm not sure what defender does the right thing with the ball 100% (Mascherano maybe?).

With Jozo out in particular he's a massive player. I'll be interested to see him with Erik next to him now (assuming that's on the cards at some point in the next couple of weeks).

Boyata is still prone to those lapses in concentration. Those slack passes out of defence do my head in.
He isn't really.
Ah....all the wine, gotcha.

Go back and look at the thread; I called it after the Hibs game. I said he makes mistakes and isn't good enough.

In Munich? Whit!?

He cost us a goal tonight, alongside Gordon. He effed it against Hibs on the half way line, getting caught on the ball when he had loads of time, they break and get a dodgy penalty. He doesn't do that and there's no break, no dodgy pen. He then gets dragged out of position for their second, dawdles back into position, not pressing passer or tracking the run.

He's improved a lot.

He's still not good enough.

No day in the sun.

Aye I'm effing delighted.

:ffs:

In hindsight, my reaction was at HT and emotional, one borne of frustration. I didn't put my point across in the best way. Sorry allthewine.

Boyata is still not good enough.

Sad, on a night when the team stood tall and gave a European super club a real game.

Must be a small mind that rubs it into a player who otherwise played very well.

I said he wasn't good enough, I don't know how that is "rubbing it in"?

No need to apologize to me, m8. I understand you do not rate Boyata but you have given him no praise. He played well in Munich & mistake apart tonight he was good.

As for the pen it was a shocking call.

Just isn't good enough at CL level, always feel there is a mistake in him.
Not the greatest with the ball at his feet either. Most teams we play against let him have it as they know he is limited in his passing.

I have said, twice now, that he has improved. I have given him praise.

You cannot say "mistake aside". That mistake cost us a point tonight, and previous mistakes, IMO, made the game vs Hibs far closer than it should have been.

He isn't at the level required if we want to earn results against the likes of Bayern. He is not alone in this, but I think you're overlooking what are serious deficiencies in his game, simply because he's improved.

Daft mistake aside, I thought he was solid tonight. Don't recall his passing causing any trouble either.

He effed it something awful. He's a big centre half who should be heading balls like that away all night.
