Our best CB by a mile. Streets ahead of Jozo, and I really like Jozo
Praying him and Jozo are both fully fit shortly.

Him and Lustig were both excellent last night.

A credit to himself.

Describing Lustig's performance as excellent is a real stretch.

I'd agree. I thought he spent large swathes of the game running around like a skelly dug at a weans birthday party

It's pretty ludicrous to be honest.

Lustig? He was like a rabbit in the headlights for the first hour. All over the place.

Still find myself laughing at whoever said that 'boom!' noise on the telly was Lustig breaking the sound barrier

Love Lustig but aye, not his best performance. I'm sure he'll make up for it v Hibs though

edit: and Boyata looked great despite the scoreline

Ignoring the complete nonsense penalty given against him, Lustig's first goal shows how much we've missed him as a target.

Bodies two Hibs players who just bounce off him :rocker:

Boyata is still prone to those lapses in concentration. Those slack passes out of defence do my head in.

Give him too much time on the ball and he gets nervous and over thinks it. We put ourselves under pressure with some stupid passing yesterday.

Much improved, but can't see why his mistakes on Saturday are being ignored; dragged out of position for their second, jogs back to his post instead of tracking the runner or pressing the passer. Never a penalty but the situation only arose because he made an arse of it and was caught on the ball in the centre circle, under little pressure, allowing Hibs to break.

Along with Jozo he is the best we have, I think he will continue to improve, but I'd honestly like to see a better CB make the position his own.

Because he got caught on the ball once on Saturday? That is hardly overwhelming evidence that is still prone to lapses in concentration. He played very well in Munich and he has been superb for almost a year now He is a cracking player.

This.

When he doesn't have time to think Boyata is a solid defender. When he takes those extra couple of touches or takes longer than he should, he tends to make a poor pass/pass it straight to the opposition. Jozo a far more composed passer of the ball and all round better defender.

I'd need to watch the game back but slack passes will happen. Especially when we are playing out from the back. The majority of his passes are very good.
