Lack of concentration was the problem, that's how many fans missed his obvious qualities.
The reason they missed his 'obvious' qualities are they just no nothing about football. It was blatantly obvious Boyata had all the attributes to be a quality Centre Back, he made mistakes, probably more down to lack of confidence.

As this entire Celtic team proves, give Brendan a player with the talent but lacking the confidence and belief and he will turn them round and better them.

There has been countless very good footballers lost to the game through bad management.

If Boyata can stay fit and healthy he will be a first pick in our team for a long time. And Brendan is right, he is by far the best Centre Back at the Club.

Ps An I also believe Kolo Toure has played a massive part in bringing him on.
He had all the physical attributes.

What he didnt show was any sort of footballing ability. The majority of fans dont 'know nothing about football'. We watch players and comment on what we see. In Boyata's case, it was a big lump of a lad who couldnt control or pass a ball. Defensively he wasnt too bad, but hardly anything to get excited about. It was similar to having Balde at the back where teams would just let him have the ball and mark everyone else as they knew he couldnt hurt them.

Unfortunately for us fans, we have to make a judgement on whether or not his displays were due to a lack of confidence, or a lack of ability (or both). None of his displays at man city had shown him to have much ability, so the majority of us made the reasonable assumption that he just wasnt very good. Perhaps you had a better insight into both his ability and confidence levels and thats why it was blatantly obvious to you that he was a great player, there certainly were no signs of that on the pitch.

As for your comments about good players being lost to the game, whilst i agree to an extent, it is up to the individual to turn it around, not any coaching staff. If you get rejection at one club, move on and work harder at your next.

The credit for his turnaround should go to the lad himself, he obviously has a great attitude.

It was blatantly obvious to me, Celtic and Brendan Rodgers :) and guess what, we were right :)

one thing's for sure. Wee Roberto Martinez would be a very happy man last night having seen DB perform like Maldini.
The sort of performance that earns you a call-up.
Yes, that's what I said.

A 50/50 crunching tackle in which they both get injured would be a tad upsetting.

Lawwell's son when he told his Da Denayer was a no-go and mused about us taking deadly Ded off their hands instead?

Canny be crediting him for that.

Still crazy to think 1 year ago Boyata 1.0 was signing shirts at the celtic shop and 1 year later we have boyata 2.0. Just needs a fit partner

Needs a regular partner at centre-half. Some consistency in our back line would certainly help on nights like tonight.

Wanted him to move to third choice in the summer as I had doubts given his form before the second half of last season. Looks like I was wrong about his ability.

Hoping he can get a couple of seasons injury free now and see what heights he can hit.
