Andrea RANOCCHIA I think if w offered about 6 to 8 million and offered him 30k pw and CL football or even a loan but we haven't even tried to sign a player of this calibre.

But it doesn't matter cause we have Boyata  .

Rodgers says he's the #1 CB. Belgium, one of the best European sides, call him up to their squad when he is fit. Have faith guys.

Faith in his fitness?

How many games has he been injured for?

Buzzing to see him back. It's amazing, if memory serves I'm sure we had a friendly with Barcelona in July last year and I groaned at the thought of him playing... If I have the game right anyway.

Can't wait for him back. A real decent threat for set pieces too.

edit: nope, talking pish he didn't even play that game. Must have been one around then apologies
He didn't play until December at Kilmarnock
That's a howler, don't know where I got last summer friendly from  cheers

Boyata is untested at CL level so we'll see how he gets on.

I'm not yet convinced but I'm not going to claim to know more than our invincible treble winning manager who says he's our number 1 centre back.

We've definitely missed him attacking set pieces though.

A player who gets by on the fact he's an Italian defender. He's absolutely horrendous as you say

When is he able to play again? A run out this week, perhaps?

He has only just started training again so most likely another few weeks away from a game I am afraid.

2 weeks ago BR said he was 3 weeks away from featuring so probably still a bit away in terms of full fitness/match sharpness.

I'd also be wary of him playing week in week out as soon as he makes his comeback. Could really be doing with him getting himself fully over this injury.

He got severely tested at CL level when Malmo pumped us 5-2 on agg in the qualifiers.

I'm still not overly confident with him and I agree on the set pieces.

Some folks were so angry during the Deila era they didn't even watch the games

On the whole, the right idea

It was 4-3. Virgil also played in that game. We were a shambles that night.

Boyata was never as bad as people made out under Delia but there is no doubt he has been outstanding under Rodgers.

Let's see how he gets on.

Not sure if that's the case. He was back on the training pitch on the Friday before the St Johnstone game. BR said he was back running, twisting and turning but I didn't get the impression he was back in full training. Over international breaks most of the staff also get a few days off so doubt there was full training sessions over the last fortnight. Don't doubt he will have been working hard in the gym when he wasn't training. BR has never rushed a player back from injury. Most are held back for another week even after they are ready. It's a policy which served us well last season.

He wasn't in any of the pics of the full squad training today.
