That's a massive blow.

I like the big man, have to agree. Thinking he was ready to kick on again this year and continue to improve.

As others have mentioned, we will miss his aerial threat big time when attacking at corners

Glasgow airport landing strip would just about be big enough to
accommodate Kolo's arse .

No need to go and buy someone.

We have Jozo, Erik, Ajer, Lustig and maybe even KT to cover for a couple of months or so....or even Brown.

Definitely a blow for us. I hope it doesn't set him back because his resurgence from a Celtic outcast to first choice centre half was quite remarkable. Hopefully when he returns he comes back the player he's been since January and not the player he was before.

I'm still fairly confident we will negotiate the first two qualifiers with Erik and Jozo and Ajer/Lustig/Tierney as back-up. We should however have another centre half in before the play-off round.

If only there was some way to calculate the date 3 months after he got injured on 4 July...

Just kiddin. Initially it was suggested he was out for up to 3 months (start of Oct). Chris Davies said they hoped he might return sooner. I've read reports suggesting BR said this week he might be back in Sept.

One poster said he could be back in 4 weeks (not sure if that was supposition on his part)

Just thinking if anyone had an update om how he was getting on and maybe due back. I honestly did not realize it was 3 months. Dont know where I go it from but I thought 6 weeks.

Anyways big man is being missed and with Erik out we will need cover now...

definitely brendans first choice defender it seems

Quote:

Amid the post-match celebrations, Rodgers dragged Nir Bitton over to accept some individual acclaim in front of the Green Brigade. With neither Dedryck Boyata nor Erik Sviatchenko likely to be fit again before the start of next month, the Israeli will likely continue to deputise in central defence. And his manager believes it is a role Bitton could fill again in future.

“It’s an option,” admitted Rodgers. “If Boyata is fit, he's playing, simple as that. But it’s great having that flexibility and that multi-functional player in your squad.

“If you didn't know he was a midfielder, people would say he was a good centre-half. I've seen him make fewer mistakes than an actual centre-half.

“He’s six foot five, he heads the ball, can attack, has decent speed, and he has this wonderful ability to pass the ball from here to there. Sometimes he’ll give it away and make a mistake but every player does.

“There was focus on this idea it was a gamble - absolute nonsense. I see him every day in training in real-game situations. Sometimes his hardest work is there. So I know what he's capable of. And he's been brilliant.”
