Folk are waiting to pounce on even the tiniest Boyata error. Been solid otherwise.
That's not happening at all. He's getting cut way more slack than previously, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Nah, that's just not the case. Some (not all) folk are set in their ways. Won't admit he's improved at all. Some still haven't forgiven him for the Huns semi final last year.

He has improved but the errors are starting to creep back in and the thought of him going up against some savvy, streetwise striker in the CL qualifiers who won't be intimidated by his size terrifies me.

There's no doubt he's improved and actually now looks like he's capable of being a Celtic player which is more than what could have been said about him before.

The problem is the mistakes people are pinpointing aren't small ones, his error led to a goal on Sunday and if Waghorn was more clinical he could have cost another goal in that game too.

3rd choice but definitely has a place here and if he can work hard to cut out the daft errors then who knows.

Fair point; his error v Rangers almost led to a goal. Thankfully, Waghorn is pish. Another error yesterday cost us a goal.

Hopefully a minor blip, but you never know....

He's patently not third choice. He has started every game since the shutdown.

He was poor on Sunday, but so was the team as a whole.

However, I'm never sure if it's really possible to improve or train a player so that they don't just lose concentration from time to time. That, to me, seems like a character or personality trait.

I'm with the poster above - if there is a ball played up in the 90th minute of the playoff round, then I wouldn't have 100% confidence that he'd defend it properly. And that's no good for a center-half.

Should have added, in my opinion he's 3rd choice.

The manager seems to have put a great deal of faith in him.

There's very few like that. More are looking past mistakes. Was at fault for own goal against St Johnstone and most were making excuses for him. Which he deserved after the run of performances since coming back in.

But they're coming more and more now.

It may be my memory playing tricks on me but I reckon we played better with Sviatchenko and Simunovic at the back. Boyata gets a lot of time on the ball but he isn't a good passer and doesn't look as convincing. That's a big part of how we play. Sviatchenko has hit a rougher patch but he's better on the ball than Boyata.

Decent back up, don't think any of our center backs are good enough for what we need in the champions league though
I'd say a CB pairing of Jozo and Boyata would do us fine in the CL. Compared to some of the defensive partnerships we've had ourselves at that level I think they'd make a good fist of it.

Clearly we're aiming for beyond the last 16 in which case they may start to become unstuck against the bigger boys but for getting out of a CL group they're more than adequate.

Somebody's telling porkies, then. Either that, or you bought shoes with in-built lifts.

UEFA's website and Soccerbase also state he's 6' 1".
