If Sviatchenko is going to get back in the side, right now it will be at Simunovic's expense.
Jozo is going to have to play really, really bad for that to happen and I know he had a dodgy 1st half last night. He's a better player than Eric.
I'm actually not sure that's the case. I just know that finally boyata's ability has come to the fore. Some times players just need that time, jozo got a "free pass" in the eyes of the support because he was injured for so long and im not totally convinced by him.

I actually think boyata could well work out better than both jozo and eric, and the irony in that is not lost on me

Aye, very good.

I think Deila is as hopeless as everyone else on here but the need to blame everything on him is crap. He improved plenty of our players which doesn't quite fit in with the narrative of how anything or anyone he touched turned to shampoo.

Boyata was making mistakes very early on in his Celtic career. I would say that it's more likely that playing next to no football for so long was the biggest contributing factor. But eff it. Deila, man.
As much as I wouldn't say Deila is to blame for Boyata looking crap last season, I'd guess publicly throwing him under the bus following the Hamilton game wouldn't have helped him.

always thought boyata had some ability. good in the area, decent in the tackle , quick and not the worst reader of the game but i never thought the poor passing and poor concentration could ever be overcame. hopefully the current boyata is the real one and not just a short term run of good games as even ambrose, gms and mulgrew had

Boyata's scored more goals for Celtic than Ciftci, Balde, Bangura and Tonev combined.

That's a startling fact.
Then, you think about it and realise it's probably not.
Can throw Ronnie Simpson in there. :nono:
and Luggy.

He's the only one of our defenders to score from a corner this year.
Was thinking the other night it's pretty pointless Jozo going up for corners. He either gets nowhere near it, or gets in the road.

Tierney has a decent shot on him. Probably better having him up there around the edge of the box and leave Jozo at the back.

I actually know where you're coming from with this.

Boyata always had the better physical attributes of the three but seemed to lack everything else. On current form, however, he's first choice.

I think his confidence was knocked to the point he was petrified when he had the ball he was going to make a mistake added to the fact he played in a team that was devoid of movement.

Now he's had a couple of mistake free MOTM performances and scored a couple of important goals he looks as if he's now found the confidence to go and express himself rather than focusing on not making a mistake .

Thought he was unlucky with the O.G, but that aside he had another very good game.

This. Hopefully the OG won't affect him and he will carry on rebuilding. Only real mistake in the game, but it flicked off Wotherspoon and went in off him, more unlucky than anything else.

Unlucky with the goal, we were all over the place at the back. Sviatchenko was at RB, Lustig was nowhere at KT was trying to cover Boyata who had moved across. Decent game again and really looks to be up for it, lots of shouting and organising again.

Good to see him showing resilience, last season he seemed very fragile. He's going to make mistakes in his career but can't afford to fall to bits whenever it happens; BR has done an amazing job helping instil a better mindset in players like Dedryk and Armstrong.

Was unlucky with the goal lets hope it does not knock his confidence and he implodes. Played well out with that, We lost two stupid goals today and against better opponents we would probably lose/draw. Got away with it but our forwards bail us out..just to good.

Poor error but it's all about how he responds. He didn't look as though he had lost too much confidence after which is promising.

Not so sure the own goal was unlucky. Poor defending, though he did play well other than that.

It was today that made me think it might be worth holding on to him. He has played well the past few games but has not had much to do. Today was his biggest test and by in large, he did ok, showing some resilience after the OG. He is obviously growing in confidence under Brendans stewardship. At one point in the first half, he gave Sinclair a bollocking for not showing for a pass, something I didn't think I would see as he appears a quiet player. Still, tougher tests to come so only time will tell.

Unlucky with the own goal, these things happens. Solid enough otherwise and deserves to keep his place.

This

Didn't see the full game as I was painting, when I saw that their 2nd was an og by him I expected him to fall apart, but he had a decent 2nd half by all accounts
