Forrest has suffered injuries, form etc. but now he's suffering 'Ronny Deila' like the rest of us.

Zero chance of Forrest producing under Ronny with his effed up system, tactics and lack of forwards.

James should go and sign a nice contract elsewhere and challenge himself. Wasn't to be.

Same can be said of a few more in this squad.
Totally agree.

I think Forrest can be awful sometimes but is capable of very good performances - he should leave though and try his luck somewhere else.

While this is over the top as regards praise I do agree he is a talent.

I met Lenny a couple of times and he raved about Forrest saying how good he was in training and the potential he had if they could get his body right.

He lacks something positioning wise but its hard for him in this system to play where he is best.

I wouldn't be so keen to sell him if he was my player!
Yes, it's over the top. It's so far over the the top it's circled the earth.

James Forrest has played about 150 games for Celtic. He's excelled at best in about 20 of them. He may indeed have talent, though I don't think he's particularly skilful.

If he left to go elsewhere he'll be stepping down as he's never showed anything to suggest he'd improve elsewhere. He's a permanently semi injured shampooehawk. Put him up against a fullback of equal speed or who gives him a good dunt, he puts his hand through his hair, humphs his wee shoulders and gets Harry Potters cloak out.

I think he is potentially one of the best players this country has produced in decades. If he can stay fit this time it's worth holding on a couple more years to see if he can get there.
Jesus effing Christ.

To be fair, two is enough for a plural and Scotland hasn't exactly produced a wealth of great talent in the last two decades. If he's thinking three or more decades then yes that statement is pushing it to say the least.

Been saying it for 2 years now. He's done. He was little more than a raw but exciting kick and rush player and now he can't even do that. Or wants to.

He doesn't even get a game for Scotland half the time.

Getting kept out by the likes of Snodgrass, Naismith, Anya, Maloney ( who's a far better player we've produced ) Ritchie, Charlie Adam and other such luminaries.

He's not a effing patch on Mcgeady or Maloney. Not even remotely close to either of them.

Is it too soon to call him a poor mans Chris Burke?

Now we're under egging it.

Forrest is an average footballer who shows glimpses of being slightly better than that but throws in double the amount of shampooe/spineless ones. He's certainly not holding the cards to be effing about with contract talks the way he is.

If he goes Celtic wont regret it.

I'm not arguing with any of that, just saying that Forrest is still one of the best players to come through in Scotland in the last decade and that that says as much about the drop in the quality of players in Scotland than it does about Forrest.

Hes the only out & out winger we have at the club. Before we let him go, we need to have one or two wingers to come in. Whether people like him or not, he has a place in the team/squad at the moment. Do we expect better? Yes, but thats a different point all together.

I'd keep him. Would probably cost us more to sign someone worse.

We badly need to trim the squad (especially if we are after a good few this month).

Forrest should be one of the first names on the list directed to the Exit signs.

Agreed, but only when we have another winger or two to come in. Aside from forrest and gms, we dont have any other natural wingers. We have lots of no10s or attk midfield players, but nobody who can get the ball wide and take someone on.

I look to wingers hogging the touchline, getting to the bye and putting in crosses for the ones in the box to attack. I'm afraid I don't see this in Forrest so irrespective of what other "winger" we have, he's superfluous to requirements.

Old fashioned wingers hugging the line & putting crosses in seem to be getting like Nokia phones & VHS players.

It's now players playing on the "wrong" side, cutting in & playing through balls or shooting.

Ronny seems to prefer the new breed of wide player, so Forrest has very little to offer us now.

Regardless of what side a winger plays on, he can take people on. The likes of commons, armstrong (to an extent), rogic, mcgregor, allan, they all pass their way to goal.

I'm in two minds about giving Forrest a new deal. Mostly due to the absolute dross we have managed to unearth to replace players who have left. But if Forrest's agent isn't advising him to bite Celtic's hand off with any offer then he must be a mentallist. I'm pretty sure even his old man would agree.
