He shirks responsibility and hides when he's on the pitch - for me the worst thing any footballer can do.
apart from spitting at an opponent, obviously.

Some poor comments on this thread.

Forrest needs to get fit and stay fit before we know if he can genuinely offer anything to this Celtic side.

How many years should that take, though? These token "Let's judge Forrest when he's fit" comments aren't really helping, he's been here a long time and there is no way he will be getting onto the pitch unless he is fit enough to play. Maybe not fit enough to last 90 minutes, but fit enough to perform. There's a chance he will play at some point today, I hope he does well, but I can't see it happening, Deila's team is moving onwards and upwards, further away from Lennon's Celtic with each passing week and I feel he's being left behind.

I agree with most of your post, he has been out of the team for so long it looks like he's being left behind. That we have good players who can easily take his place should be a wake up call to him to start making a better contribution - fitness permitting.

If he continues to struggle with his fitness it'd be hard to make a case for keeping him around for much longer.

Everytime this thread gets bumped, I just assume that he's re-injured himself.

Give it a couple of days.

I don't think that is why he has been getting pelters of late.

The boy looks incapable of doing anything on the field, anytime he is on.

Enough time has passed from his debut to at least see something in him but I have only ever seen petulance from him

It just doesn't seem to be working for him attacking
-wise when he is on the pitch. That would be acceptable if he was willing to work hard tracking back, but he would rather have a wee moan at the ref looking for a foul.

We may as well persist with him this season in the hopes he regains his form as we are stuck with him for the foreseeable future. Hopefully Ronnie can get him back to his best.

Adam Matthews has been out of sorts for a while after coming back from injury. Of late, he's had a run in the team and his pace and confidence appear to be back and he is coming back to the form we know he is capable of.

Forrest could do the same.

With respect, that's just silly. Years and years of underachievement and a poor fitness record - definitely no further examination or time required IMO, his wage bill could be better spent at this stage. I expect RD (and PL) to be quietly but purposefully ruthless over the next few months and into the summer.

The difference being that despite his lack of form Matthews never stopped trying or working hard.

Forrest looks utterly disinterested unless the ball is played directly to feet.

True, but Mathews suffered from one or two long term injuries, not constant small ones. Mathews has proved himself to be able to stay fit long enough to actually regain his form. Forrest hasn't been able to.

We wouldn't miss Forrest a single bit if he went. Would be delighted if he was sold and we got some cash in for him.

I must have.

There are plenty of criticisms that could be leveled at Matthews, but not trying isn't one of them in my opinion. Even when he was utterly bereft of confidence and everything was going wrong for him he still worked hard getting up and down the pitch. His head might've dropped a few times and he might not have thrown himself into challenges like we all would have liked, but he never stopped trying.

James Forrest on the other hand barely seems interested. He jogs around waiting for things to happen, moaning at refs and teammates and keeps turning his back on play when he loses the ball.

Echo others in saying he needs games to find form and sharpness. He's a good player. Injuries are wrecking this season so hopefully he can get some luck.

I agree, but the main reason Matthews is in the team is because of Lustig's injury. Forrest will need something similiar to happen, in a more sought after position, to get an extended run now.
