I've seen James Forrest - this season included - run the @rse off international defenders and put the ball on a plate for the centre forward to score. Where else are we going to buy and wage that ability from? While he has it in his locker, the club has no choice but to try to get his fitness and consistency levels up.
It's a shame - I've seen Forrest unable to run past fairly ordinary SPFL defenders and also sometime's when he does, unable to find anyone with a final ball - and I've seen that 10 times for every 1 you describe and that includes this season

If Forrest thinks he can do better elsewhere - then let him go - our focus should actually be finding or developing a consistently good player for that position

No you haven't. He has two assists all season.

The international defenders patter doesn't mean much. Charlie Mulgrew's an international defender.

Would prefer to keep him, but if he's not signing a new contract, needs to go in January.

He has two assists this season due to the finishing of our unreliable forwards.

It would be disappointing if we had to sell him, especially as he's finally fit enough to play regularly.

Still, we have GMS, who people assure me has more to his game than Forrest

None of our players are consistently excellent. That's why they play for Celtic and not a better team with more money. But when Forrest is good, he's as dangerous an attacking threat as we've got. You could say that's a sad reflection on the quality of the team rather than Forrest, but it can only be changed by us: A. signing or developing a better player or B. letting Forrest go - and it would be preferable to aim for the first option.

Has had a frustrating career and has annoyed me as much as others but I get the worrying feeling that he'll turn in to a player if/when he leaves us

Saying that, if his replacement is GMS or McGregor then sign him up.

Christ.

And to think people used to say Aiden had no end product. Forrest final ball is hopeless.

I like him and he's been good this season.

But he remains a risk due to injury and he hasn't earned a long term contract until he can play one full season of football.

If he's stalling, or if his demands are unreasonable, we should sell.

Aiden the better player but he had Hartson, Sutton and Jan to aim for, Forrest has had midgets r us.

I can think of at least 2 cutbacks he's given Griffiths this season that have resulted in fresh air swipes.

We had over 40 crosses pumped in when drawing with the Gorgie Schwein, what we need is added presence in the box alongside our little sharpshooter.

A hard one for the club to decide what to give him. When hes on it, he can terrify fullbacks, but his injuries are impossible to ignore.

Deila had been quoted at the weekend as saying that talks had been held with Forrest, whose current deal ends in summer 2017, and that the terms offered appeared to be agreeable.

The last 4 season have all been "big seasons" for James but mainly due to injuries he has failed to deliver in any of these seasons. There has been glimpses of a really good player but they are few and far between and I think people still think he's a kid but he's 24 now and we can't wait forever for him to become the player he already thinks he is.

If he has 18 months left on his contract then I would be waiting till the summer to see how his performances are before offering him a new contract.

The gamble with that is that if he does put a run together (unlikely) he'll only be 6 months away from being able to sign a pre contract with someone.

Because every ball into the box needs to be a high one?

No but on the deck or high I'm sure you'll know any cross tends to bring a physical challenge, Griffiths for me is at his best picking up just outside the penalty area with a little more space to manipulate.
