Don't think any of that would count as revisionism. It's criticism. Not even sure if you disagree with it given that you'd consider punting him in summer. |

He's had ample opportunity to prove himself, but his fitness problems will see him out the door eventually. Someone mentioned the fact that he hasn't had three games in a row for a very long time. That says everything. He's either a chocolate soldier or not considered for selection by the management. Probably a bit of both. He's not going to be a first pick at the moment, and his attitude on the field (to these eyes) implies that he knows it and has decided not to bust a gut trying to impress, which is pretty damning. We have too many wide players who aren't even second pick - best to bin them and get in better cover for the first XI or preferably, get in first picks. |

I am a fan of his but thought his attitude last night was lamentable. I can accept he is just back from injury etc but he just did not look interested last night. |

Punt, a bit like Stokes and kayal before him, had enough chances and been replaced by better players. |

He's losing his place in the team and should be bursting onto the field like Griffiths when given a chance, desperate to prove he should still be first pick. He's a good, occasionally really good footballer, but his attitude is to jog around with a glaikit look on his face and wait for others to do the hard stuff. Give him the ball on the wing and he might create something, but don't expect him to go full blazing pressing, tracking back and getting stuck in like the guys who have recently made this midfield their own. Also he has a stupid no-neck, cowardly, weird posture running style that, for all we know, has contributed more to his perpetual injury/half-fit status than anything else (probably not though )

It's odd that he's been fast tracked back into the side when the likes of Boerrigter and Scepovic (particularly the latter given our lack of options up front last night) are using the development squad games to get their fitness/form back. I guess he is a more established member of the first team squad than they are, but he needs a run of games where he can try to rediscover the form that got his into that position in the first place. Right now I'd be quite happy to see him loaned out to an English Championship team for the rest of the season, Bolton being an obvious destination but there will be others interested I'm sure. Doubt we'll do that until after the league cup final at the earliest though (I think the deadline for lower league clubs taking loans on is 24 March). |

Maybe the manager knows he has been here a long time and has been known to occasionally create something out of nothing or grab an important goal. Sadly, those days/a few seasons ago seem like a lifetime ago now. |

One of the most frustrating underperformers of the last few seasons. We have had glimpses of quality but a few games of inadequate, ineffectiveness. He does my nut in, so I'm kind of biased whenever he takes to the pitch, and I start noticing how he doesn't track back or put in enough effort, and I just end up cursing him under my breathe. In the home game against Juventus he was incredible to watch. He stopped every few moments to pull up his socks or some other OCD trait, his mind seemed full of indecision and anxiety. He's a player whose mind I hoped Jim McGuiness would get to work on and improve. |

Exactly how I feel. Forrest divides opinion on here like no other player we have. Yes, his injuries are a factor and nothing he can do about that awful run of bad luck. Ronny is saying he's being gently eased back in the hope of avoiding another fitness breakdown. Fair enough but does that not suggest he's not fully fit? I was taken aback when he was brought on last night in such an important game, a man down and the ten men giving it there all against the odds. Hardly the arena for a player lacking fitness or at least match fitness and it showed. There was no rolling the sleeves up and joining the fray but a player playing on the periphery yet again which was the last thing we needed and no surprise. Any player coming back from a long spell out needs game time but not in the biggest matches of the season. Henderson for one, would have offered a lot more last night. |

Pretty sure he would have been told to work hard, close down and make a nuisance of himself. He did none of those things. At one point Johansen ran past him to close someone down, I mean FFS Jamesy think about it. Think he might be a Bolton player next year. Edited by Hagi Bhoy, 27 Feb 2015, 12:31 PM.

Henderson? Up front? With his back to goal? Forrest was asked to play a very different game last night and it didn't work out. Can't remember him getting a decent pass either. |

There is no getting away from it, last night he was woeful. I can understand why people are particularly peeved, as there was times when he simply wasn't 'busting a gut' to close down the defenders. That he came on to bring the pace we removed when we took off GMS makes it all the more frustrating. He now has 2 months to prove he still has a place in this team, because GMS looked last night like the player we've been waiting for Forrest to blossom into. |

Lack of match fitness is no excuse for not even trying. He barely broke into anything more than a jog all night. He's been in the first team squad for five years now. People will still be making excuses for Forrest when he's in his 30's. "He needs a run of games.." etc. Even on the rare occasion that he is fully fit he offers little else than kick and rush and beating the full back with pace. He has never worked hard off the ball, doesn't react until the ball comes to him, can't cross, doesn't track back, is unaware of whats going on around him because he plays with his head down, pulls out of challenges and is an erratic finisher. None of that is to do with a lack of fitness, it's all about attitude. Look at GMS and Armstrong who are clearly not up to speed with the rest of the squad with regards fitness. They'll still run themselves into the ground and chase every lost cause. Forrest strolls around with his arms spread, not bothering his arse. The main positive about him has always been his pace, but even that has been sorely lacking for at least two seasons. And as he gets older and continues to get hamstring injuries the chances of him ever having the pace and straight line speed he once had is pretty slim. It's time to punt. And this isn't kneejerk, look at the old Forrest thread, plenty of us have been saying this for two seasons. Edited by Patrick_Bateman, 27 Feb 2015, 12:41 PM.

He used to be pretty fast, or was I just imagining that? I find it really hard to judge which players are quicker than others. Anyway, injuries seem to have taken away whatever pace he had, which is a shame. |
