I like Forrest but up until the goal he was really poor. However this was replicated by the majority of his teammates in midfield and attack. Both wide players werent helped by the service they got from their midfield colleagues. Neither was Stokes. The whole balance of the team was off and imo it was down to Johansen playing in a position where he's not at his best.

I suppose the sign of a good player is one who wins you a game when he, and the team, are playing poorly.

Don't judge him on last night's performance. It's so difficult to dribble on such a terrible surface. He couldn't get a proper run at his man.

His left foot is much worse than it used to be. He used to be very two footed, but being injured all the time must have made it difficult for him to really get any practice on it. Remember the beast he scored against Hearts in Jan 2011? A really hard shot on his left right into the roof of the net. He'd probably try and hit it with the outside of his right now.

In that case, it's Funny how Griffiths remains "terrible" in the eyes of some fans when he often gets a goal and doesn't stop trying even if he's not at his best...

this.

I thought I was alone in thinking the St Mirren full back looked decent, and stayed strong and quick against Forrest.

James has done well since being re-introduced some weeks back, especially in the Cup replay against Dun Utd. He will gain confidence from playing regularly.

Good to have him back.

I am quite pleased with Forrest so far, I don't expect much from him this season, it will take him months to get match fit, he has been injured a long time.
I think he is a cracking player who is suffering from a long lay off.

No matter what we think about wee james.

He has never, ever, had a left foot.

Ever.

He has as much of a left foot as Maradona had a right one.

I think Forrest deserves a chance

with a Championship team. He does not convince any more that he will improve & kick on.

Not judging the guy on tonight (only had radio commentary) but over last couple of seasons I've always said he needs to up his game to make the most of his skills. He hasnt done it - has he been injured again for pre season training?

Can't even judge him on tonight. Would rather he left and was replaced with another young winger, even a prospect.

Jimmy Sanderson (where you at the game caller?) used to be on the radio and they had a sort of running gag (IIRC) and players names would change.

Tonight it would have been, 'James Forrest. Why?'

Wasn't the worst of our attackers. Wasn't that good either. At least he tried to take his fullback on and won some throw ins.
