I think GMS will defo play as many games as forrest has. We are talking about a guy who in five years averages about 18 games a season and roughly 4 goals a season. GMS has already shown he can link up, score goals, take some heavy tackles and stay fit. I have every confidence he will play an important part in our future. As for trophies we can't say but bear in mind as good as forrest is when he's at his best, he's never at his best or fittest long enough to have any bearing on a league run. Certainly there's no way other than Season 11/12 you can say he can be relied upon and been a major influence in the teams success.
I hope you're right but GMS had a reputation as a streaky player at Dundee Utd. To last four or five years at Celtic is no mean feat. Forrest, for all his flaws, has managed to see off dozens of players in his time at the club so he must be doing something right.
Forrest is streaky too, when he's fit.

What do you mean by Forrest "has managed to see off dozens of players in his time at the club"? Mizuno, McGinn, Ljunberg and Slane are the only right wingers I can think of that Forrest has seen off in his time here. He's not really had much competition for his position since breaking into the first team - hence he has always played when fit. When he has been injured, we have mostly played square pegs in round holes (e.g. playing Commons on the right).

We haven't really brought anyone decent in to challenge Forrest, until now.

For all the posters sayinh he won the penalty and had every right to take it all I'll ask is when do you leave school? The Manager designates who takes the penalties, Brown, Stokes & Guidetti knew who was to take it bit the stupid little boy thoght he knew better and hit perhaps the worst penalt that was actually on target in the history of senior football in this country. also for all those who say the game was finished anyway, all it took was for Utd to go up the pitch and score for all hell to break loose in the closimg minutes. It was 2-0 and no game is finished at 2-0.
So he'll be disciplined for disobeying his manager then, eh? I don't want Forrest in the team, but I highly doubt he was doing anything other than taking Guidetti's only chance of scoring off of him. I get out of school at half three.

I don't know if it was Guidetti or Stokes who was suppossed to take the penalty, but the players and the Coaching staff do.

As for being disciplined, he does deserve to get his arse booted

This penalty stuff is so amateurish it has happened under MON, GS, NL and now RD too.

It's a squad game nowadays so it's not good enough to just have 1 or 2 penalty takers. If a penalty is awarded then everyone on the park should know who takes it.

Of course RD may have covered this beforehand and if so and Forrest wasn't the penalty taker then he needs his arse booted.

Had it been 0-0 i'm convinced Guidetti would still have wanted to take it. Not so convinced Forrest would have.

I had 3-0 to Celtic yesterday so that may be making me slightly more annoyed though

 I had 3-0 too. I think we all knew we had won and it didn't matter whether he scored it or not but I wanted to see that penalty hit the back of the net. As others have said had the kick been crucial I reckon he'd have been at the back of the queue, and certainly should be from now on. No harm done anyway and I still think he's a good player when he's on his game.

I loved that in primary 3 myself.

Makers takers.

The people saying these things are people I respect as posters. :ffs:
Yet he won the penalty and nobody with any authority or seniority took it off him. Looks like it might be the actual professional footballers playing 'makers takers'. I don't agree that's what should have happened, someone who had been on the pitch longer than 20 minutes should have taken it, or it should have drilled into the players beforehand who was taking penalties, but nobody stepped up. Nobody on the pitch said "makers takers? Shut up, nae neck", so fire in. Makers takers. He won it, he can take it if nobody else will. If Guidetti can't take the effing ball off James effing Forrest, that says more about him than it ever could about Jamesy. Jesus wept.
I'm fairly sure Guidetti could have taken the ball from Forrest if he wanted to but that would have looked even more stupid than it already did. Likewise if Broony had got involved.

Wonder what everyone thought when that big fud Balotelli took the penalty when Henderson was on them for Liverpool the other week.

Another perspective, if it was 0-0, Utd with 10 men and Forrest won the penalty, do you think Forrest would have grabbed the ball? I have my doubts.........
I said the exact same thing to my Dad yesterday. I also have my doubts.

Nail on the head.

Amazes me people saying Guidetti was a huffy bastard over it. He was 100% correct to be.

For all the moaners on here absolutely gagging to have a go about Forrest & the penalty. Deila already cleared it up. Our designated takers were Commons & Griffiths. Neither was on the pitch. Instead of blaming the guy with the ball how about the guy kicking up a stink so he could get a shot? Said this yesterday. You could lip read Forrest saying "why?" when Guidetti was trying to get the ball off him. Guidetti wanted to score for himself and had a bigger role to play in the embarrassing scenes than Forrest. But still. It was Forrest's fault.
Why? eff knows wee man. eff knows.

I think Guidetti wanted to take it from Forrest, as did he not set Forrest up for his goal, and wanted payback for it? I'm sure I saw him mouthing "quid pro quo, Jamesie" , when trying to get the ball from him.

My point about Forrest seeing dozens of players off wasn't specifically about right wingers. I meant that dozens of players have been sold by Celtic over the past five years because they've not been good enough to play for us. Forrest, by comparison, has commanded a regular place throughout that time when he's been fit. He's never been transfer listed, he's never been sent out on loan. Celtic and Scotland managers have continually selected him over that period.
