Another game under his belt, kept it simple, nice finish and while a poor penalty, he made a difference.
Bawman, I admire your charity.

If only the arrogance displayed by him today in absolutely insisting on taking the penalty, was mirrored in his general play over a long, long period of time. He would be a world class player.

His mis-placed arrogance is, in my opinion, breathtaking.

On what basis did he earn the right to take that penalty and insist, over several objections, from a variety of players, to do so.

With that insistence comes responsibility. He failed big time. The DU keeper did not move his feet other that to make the save.

In a cup final.

I have no idea how a player who cannot earn a regular place, quite rightly, in any team can come on the pitch and insist on taking that penalty in a cup final.

Discraceful.

He didn't earn it. He won the penalty and nobody stopped him from taking it. There's a captain on the field and a host of more senior players who could have said "nope". It isn't arrogant, he took it off one player. What is wrong with that?

His sharpness will return with games but I feel he lacks in concentration. It's almost like his head is already deciding what to do with the ball before he recieves it (a trait that all good footballers should have) but when the concentration is lacking the first touch bounces off the ankle or shin and his second touch is a challenge to win the ball.

I'd also like to see the team work on twisting and turning because our agility needs to be improved to create openings more quickly.

Just knew he was missing that penalty after all that fuss.

Lovely finish though, came at a good time as United were working up to a big finish, that goal ended that.

Saw delia tell him to get further up the park about 5 mins after he came on. Took on that instruction pretty well.
Won a penalty and scored a goal after it.

But he doesn't 'buy in'
Give me strength, he's not played enough games to buy into anything.

Aw ffs
Complete and utter over reaction to nothing

He took the penalty and missed, we were 2 0 up we won
Arrogant bastard that he is

Is this really what you feel like posting after today's win?
Cup final win and you are raging at the supposed 'arrogance' of Forrest on a message board

The same player who scored a cracking second goal

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
I wouldn't just say he was in the right place, I would say he came in from the wing and got himself in the right place for his goal. Why do you think his attitude and application were lacking? I thought he worked hard when he came on and offered more than Kris Commons did.

Also, Wakaso, Tonev and Boeriggter have shown that it isn't easy finding an effective winger. Forrest is a product of our youth system and has been a good player for us. Due to terrible luck with injuries, he hasn't been fully match sharp for a long time. The manager clearly likes him and he is still young enough to improve much more.
I have highlighted my reasons over his application in an above post.

Aye, he's decent going forward when he can be bothered, but he is not the kind of player this team favours now. He is talented, but he seems to think that gets him by and we need more than that, and Ronny demands more than that. I don't think he plays for the team, I think he plays for himself - further supported by his penalty today - and I hope he's nowhere near us next year.
Firstly, we won a cup final today. James Forrest scored one of the winning goals and you are coming on to an internet forum, hours later to chastise him. Do you not see anything wrong with your attitude?

You're saying "he is talented but he seems to think that will be enough to get him by". Now, unless you are capable of telepathy, you have no idea what James Forrest thinks. Would you not agree that Ronnie Deila, perhaps, has a better insight into Forrest's mindset and attitude? Ronnie Deila has regularly picked him when he is available, do you not think this suggests he regards him as someone that fits into our system? Would you not also agree that Deila has already shown he is capable of really improving individual players, and there is no reason to suggest he won't do this with Forrest? Lastly, would you not also agree that he has had terrible luck with injuries and has been unable to get fully match sharp in a long time due to this?

I've been a real critic, and stated that his time a Celtic is done. However, penalty aside (Guidetti was a bit of a plonker), I thought he played pretty OK today. Maybe, just maybe, RD can relight the spark.

Did well when he came on. Poor penalty but scored a good goal. Only see him as a squad player now.

There's something about him that reminds me of David Platt. (The Corrie one, not the ex-Villa & England midfielder)

I've been really critical of him recently, but he was good today. Scored a goal and won a penalty. I have no problem with him wanting to take the penalty - more than anything, I was glad that he was confident enough to take responsibility in the first place (even though it was a dreadful effort).

Encouraging signs for the second game in a row. He must know he's got a real battle on his hands for game time now that GMS and Armstrong are here. Hopefully that will spur him on.

I was screaming for Forrest to take that pen today. Exactly what he needed to get his confidence up again. Shame he hashed it, but overall he was very good.

Today again, loads of the usual twats in our support screaming total abuse at him when he missed. Seems to be some real vitriol from some of the support to him. Really hard to fathom out why he's so hated. I've seen far worse players than him, receive nowhere near that abuse.

Weird that we have fans who seem to dislike some of our players more than opposition fans do.

Glad he scored and played pretty well. I suppose a few were happy he missed the penalty.

Forrest was perfectly entitled to take the penalty, although I was desperate for Brown to take it instead.

Laughably poor attempt but that aside, scored a good goal and looked bright when he came on, although against 10 men it was always going to be easy for him to exploit open spaces.

Will be interesting to see how much game time he gets until the end of the season, with GMS & Armstrong back in the squad soon.

I was ready to eat my hat when he came on, scored and won a penalty.

I dusted off the salt and put it back on my head when he arsed up the penalty.

Yes he effed up the penalty but he wanted to hit it and considering he is completely lacking in confidence , I wouldn't get too upset about it.

His goal was a superb finish after he burned his full back. Not bad for a guy who has lost all his pace.

sell.
