Start Paddy against the mutants and James against Anderlecht. His defensive awareness is better than Paddy's and away from home in a game we might actually stand a chance of getting some kind of a result in I think we make the most of his counter-attacking ability. Then at around 60mins or so we bring on Paddy to torment the tired defence.

I think Forrest's ability in terms of tracking back is massively overplayed. He's often very poor at tracking his man in these situations. This 'great defensive shift' thing just seems to have been repeated so often it has become a 'fact'. Definitely works back more than Roberts but if both are fully fit and in form I'd have Roberts ahead of him every time.

He's had a really good start to the season though and I'd have no qualms with him starting at Ibrox or in Belgium if Roberts isn't quite there yet.

In comparison to Paddy though - which is what this is - he does do more tracking and his starting positions are generally more defensive than Paddy's maybe because he has more pace.

I think you're right. Much like Sinclair you tend to notice it when it happens because it's a rarity.

I'd start Paddy in both games.

Either way, whoever plays will score and we'll say the right decision was made.

I'd start both at the shampoo pit. Same formation as away to Accies. If they go 2 up front we'll have a field day.

Roberts should be starting both games. Get our best players on the park as often as we can.

That's not how a football team works. Otherwise we would have eight midfielders playing.

That was a MON tactic to shoehorn Hartson in.

Cost us at least one league title.

We don't have to play others out of position to play Roberts though.

It's quite a simple premise. You play the team best equipped to get you a result against that particular opponent.

Both will be used like they were last season, and rightly so.

According to the rumoured team, he is playing in the number ten role tonight.

I reckon BR would like that to be his regular position. And if we'd signed him on a permanent I think we'd be building our team around him in that role.
