Can't be any worse than Rogic up front. He's a tidy finisher and I'm sure, as always, will put in a decent shift/cause Rosenborg some problems. He's had a pretty dismal start to the season out wide, so there's that too. Love a good, unconvincing makeshift Celtic side, so ah doo.

forrest to be the hero on wednesday :rocker:

Quote:

JONNY HAYES doesn’t scare easily — but the sight of James Forrest in full flow left him TERRIFIED.

Now he’s backed the Celtic star to put the frighteners up Rosenborg in Trondheim.

Hayes revealed fleet-footed Forrest was his toughest opponent during his Aberdeen days.

The Irishman was forced to mark Forrest when filling in at left-back and always knew he was in for a hard test.

The Scotland man impressed in a striking role against Sunderland and Hayes backed him to torment Rosenborg — if Leigh Griffiths is out.

He said: “I always said whenever I dropped into left-back at Aberdeen, James was the only player I was worried about doing me for pace on the outside.

“Even if you try and make it a foot race he’s got that intelligence to come in and he’s decent on his left foot.

“He’s got a terrific turn of pace. You saw that in the lead up to my goal against Sunderland.

“Inside, outside, I’ve always been a big admirer of James — and he was outstanding up front.

“Being a wide player, his movement was really good. He moved the centre halves and midfielders about the pitch.

“They didn’t know who was picking him up and when he dropped into the hole, it gave me and Scotty a lot more freedom to get forward.

“He was outstanding and he is a very underrated player. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves.

“He is a clever player as a winger. He knows when to keep the ball and is of the highest calibre, having been at Celtic for almost a decade.

“James kept Paddy Roberts out the team for a long time last year and that shows how good he is.

“On his day, nobody can touch him and if he goes and plays that role through the middle in midweek, he can do more than just a job.

“He can score goals, create chances and do really well there for the team.”

If Forrest does indeed start up front, or at least the role Rogic attempted to play in the first leg, then It'll be interesting to see who he picks on the right side. Hayes would be the obvious choice.
I wonder how folk would've reacted last season if you said we'd be going into a vital away CL qualifier with Forrest up front and Hayes on the right wing.
Bingo.

Main thing with Forrest, if he doesn't beat the defender first time. He's chucked it in his head.

You can tell within 2 minutes whether he's going to be sugar or shampooe.
The most ridiculous post I have read.
We are hardly 5 minutes into the season and in fact not one ball kicked in the domestic season and the most negative our alleged fans
are giving him laldy.
Could be coz he's been relatively pish for about 5 years? :ponder:
You were sleeping last season then.

The last player you'd want one on one with their keeper in the 91st minute

Or any other minute
Stefan Johansen would be the answer to this question. Disgraceful in one on one situations. I'd feel more confident in James and I'm nowhere near his biggest fan.

I did however see a certain Mr Roberts play less games, be more potent, full of flair and equal or better wee Jamie's season contribution.

As for Forrest, some very good games, with some decent games and a majority of fair to middling/pish over several seasons is not good enough.

I've never been a fan except to say I've spoken in his defence when he's played well.

I think I did that once.

Punt.

Aye him. I still mind him clearing vvds header of the line in Maribor as well. Strangely I think Bellamy is a candidate for that too, scored some cracking goals in his career but was poor one v one. Griff strangely has that and pens as a weakness too IMO.

Why the need to bring Roberts into it. I am a big fan of Paddy and hope we
can bring him back.
It sticks in yer" you know what" because Forrest showed you how poor a judge of
a fitba player you are.

I would feel pretty confident on him scoring the winning that would put us through in the 92nd minute ;)

Last season ? They would have pointed out that it was madness as Hayes was registered as an Aberdeen player and if we played him on the right wing, or anywhere in fact, we would forfeit the game 0-3.

Belter.

He is a very, very lucky boy to still be at Celtic.

He isn't and has never been good enough for us.

Since he has broken into the first team he's had a good half a season - if that and a few flashes of brilliance but contributed feck all-else (I know he has been injured for some of that).

I honestly fail to see what some others (Remy) see in this guy.

He's an imposter.

Forrest will never win some fans over. That is fine. He will go on to positively effect our season yet again this year.
