People aren't seriously suggesting he's a better player than Roberts? :cuckoo:
Not that I have seen tbh.

On the plus side, he at least had some efforts at goal. Unfortunately they were all awful and emblematic of his horseshampoo performance.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Roberts scored more goals and assisted more goals in less starts and less overall playing time.
And? I watched every game we played last season. Overall, Forrest had a better season.
Nonsense. Forrest started of the season well, but lets be honest Roberts was far more effective.

Felt a bit sorry for Forrest last night. It seemed all our first half chances fell to him and he was simply overcrowded by the volume of there defenders.

Don't think anybody is suggesting that. The point being made was that Forrest has a good season last year.

The sooner we get a long term solution to the right wing problem position the better. Imho that solution is not James Forrest and it never will be. Like someone else said, he's had loads of opportunities over the years. He just isn't good enough on a consistent basis to merit a starting role for Celtic.

Decision-making is poor
Doesn't get his head up
Doesn't know how to defend
Crap passing
Wuss.

Hayes did more in the half an hour he was on the park than James did the whole time he was on.
Did Hayes have a single effort at goal?
His movement, drive and decision-making was a lot better than Forrest's. You don't need to shoot to contribute more.

Just not good enough. He will always have decent games but for me when he is up against decent players he struggles.

His days are numbered. If Hayes continues to impress and we sign another RW, he'll get as many games this season as GMS did last season

Forrest will never win some fans over. That is fine. He will go on to positively effect our season yet again this year.

No harm, but I don't think anyone is wishing him to fail. If he was good enough to be first choice winger I'd be delighted. Sadly, he is nowhere near that standard.

I feel sorry for him, but I'm not a fan. What frustrates me most is that he has zero acceleration. He struggles to even get past part time footballers. Guys like Roberts, Sinclair (and even Hayes, on early showings) have that boundless energy and drive, that swashbuckling edge to their game that can take them past anyone with a bit of luck and daring. With a run up, Forrest is capable, but, for the most part, he is a stocky little guy who runs with his arms out by his side, doesn't have much of a trick in him, and it's now time we brought better in to better mirror what we have on the left.

No doubt he'll find some form for a chunk of the season, set up a few goals, grab a few himself, and the whole sorry cycle can start over again next season.

You'll struggle to find a bigger critic of Forrest than me, but his shot that went past the post was a good effort that he did well to fashion a shooting opportunity from.

He was first choice for a large part of last season.

On the contrary, I think there's quite a few on here who'd be quite happy to see him fail so they can tell everyone how they were right from the start about him.

Mate, I was in section 438 with a perfect view of that play. He did well to get into the position, sure, he then missed the target from what? 8 yards out at most? He's not good enough or consistent enough. His time's up.
