With some people on here there is rarely any middle ground; you are either fantastic or pish, there is nowhere in between. Just as another example, we seen it with Kelvin Wilson - in the space of a few matches he turned on here from Paul McGugan into Paul Elliott. The point is - the criticism of Forrest was OTT. Yes, he was poor for a prolonged perriod but there was reasons for it. To deny his obvious talent was just plain stupid. And yes - some of the praise being heaped on him now is also OTT. He is playing well, probably as well as he ever has, but that is it. I still think there is a lot of improvement in Forrest. I still think he lets his head drop and has a tendency to hide when a few touches go astray. I still think he can improve his shooting. He is a good player and I am happy he decided to stay. But the fact you have someone a page back stating he'd still be happy for him to leave goes to show that some of the stuff aimed at him was (and obviously still is) bordering on irrational. |

There are a lot of people who are still to be won over by Forrest and probably for good reasons. In his head he had left Celtic, and it showed in his performances. I appreciate that the type of player he is an awful lot is based on confidence, but it looked more like he had downed tools and was working his ticket till he moved. I probably preferred a fit and committed young Forrest to McGeady, because he had in my mind a better end product. I'm now happy he stayed, but I can understand why he still has a good few Celtic fans to win over. Ps Running like yer sister doesn't help

The criticism wasnt OTT, it was just. The fact that he looks like he has turned it around and is now a regular starter doesnt take away the fact over a period of years he was showing nothing that would make you think he should be in the first 11. Fair play to him and the coaching staff for the transformation. |

The new found maturity in his game has taken him up a level very quickly in my opinion. Even last season he was more interested in fixing his hair, his socks, having the usual tantrum when he was hustled off the ball and did not get a free kick, remaining in the huff as the opposition pushed forward while he inexplicably stood where he was with his arms in the air. It is what irritated me the most about him. All things which should have long since been coached out of him by that stage. Understandable at 18, but not 24. Brendan has been in the door 4 months and this nonsense has disappeared. We now have a player tracking back, making tackles, not wanting off if he takes a kick. On Wednesday he appeared to hurt himself in a tackle he made and he simply got up and walked it off. Against Motherwell, just as he was getting into his stride, he took a hefty challenge, needed treatment and it seemed for a couple of minutes to be typical Forrest getting injured just as he was finding form, but back on he came. That toughness has been missing for a long time. If he loses the ball he isn't wasting time trying to argue with the ref, he is back chasing down the opposition. He is taking responsibility, looking to make something happen and that is what we need from him. He has improved, but it is more to do with better attitude and application than a sudden discovery of previously non-existent talent. |

Under Neil Lennon. Forrest practically carried us for a while during the early months of Lennon's second season. |

The criticism was ott. Many on here gave him no credit whatsoever for the talent and skills he possessed Some of the critics were downright mean. The evidence is in the thread. The talent has always been there with Forrest. You just do not turn it on if you do not have it ffs. Brendan deserves immense credit and shows just what a good motivational manager can do as opposed to a manager like Ronnie who had the team and players steadily regressing. |

Correct - It is down to a combination of Forrest himself and the Manager working with him.

There is no point in having talent or skill if you cant reproduce it on the park. Plenty of players have failed to make a living from football who had plenty of talent, but lacked in other areas like heart, effort, training mental strength etc. What probably frustrated people was you could see Forrest did have talent but produced very little over a period of 2 years. This is why he received heavy criticism. |
