Was talking to some City fans earlier who didn't understand why Roberts wouldn't play. I told them they guy in form has the jersey. Again, he was far better than Roberts. |

Movement, positioning, and cross for the first goal was first class. All round, tremendous performance. Utterly delighted with him this season so far. Credit to him, and Rodgers, for his transformation, |

He got 81 minutes and Roberts got 9. An utterly ridiculous thing to even bring up. Anyway, fantastic assist from Forrest. That's definitely been worked on in the training ground. He always runs his nuts off in the CL/big games. Edited by McStay, 28 Sep 2016, 11:40 PM.

Roberts was fresh on and was lazy in tracking a number of times when he should know as a fresh body he has to run himself into the ground. Didn't do it. Had a nice wee flick though. |

I thought he was excellent tonight up against a very good fullback in Clichy. Ran himself into the ground and was always a danger. I would have liked to have seen him try to take Clichy on the inside once or twice, but that's splitting hairs. |

I don't disagree. I just think it's BS to highlight a guy who played for 81 minutes of the match was "far better" than a guy who played for 9 minutes. He's rightfully in the starting 11 right now and has been excellent under BR. |

The volleyed pass for the first goal was out of this world. Ensured Clichy didn't get forward (even Pep spotted that eventually) and worked his nadgers off. I'd have subbed Sinclair before him though. Great performance. |

First team training

At the end of last season I was thoroughly pissed off with James Forrest. I'd had enough of him. The pea hearted performances, the inability to cross a ball, the fiddling with his hair and his shin pads. Everything about him was annoying me. So much so that even when he started off this season playing well I was not willing to give him a go. To me it was a flash in the pan, another false dawn. I just wanted Patrick Roberts back in the team and Forrest moved on. I felt that way for a while but goddammit I am starting to like this guy again. He still can't cross a ball to save his life but he's really working hard for the team and he's doing other things better than he's ever done them before. He looks more of a goal threat than he used to and the way he presses the opposition? It's like watching a different player to the imposter who wore Forrest on his back the last couple of seasons. The turnaround in James Forrest may be Brendan Rodgers finest achievement so far as Celtic manager. But credit has to go to the player as well. Keep it up, Jamesy bhoy. I thought he had a fantastic hour last night and then tired. It was strange as Roberts was stripped for about 7/8 minutes before he came on for the wee man. |
