Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Even at that Makay-Steven wasn't exactly great and it was always more likely that an in form Forrest would deliver more than him.
But he wasn't in form, in fact he'd been out of form for 3 years. Plenty thought he'd never get back to the level he's currently at. Forrest has had a complete turnaround but GMS had been far better than him before this season.
A complete nonsense that he was out of form for 3 seasons. At the start of last season he was performing very well. One of our better performers in the CL qualifiers. He went off the boil and Deila froze him out after the contract was pulled.

He was nowhere near on a par with his current form and wasn't playing as well as GMS, who had a run of around ten games last season where he either scored or set one up.

Good thing the manager wasn't one of them.

Yet folk were still wanting him dropped on current form for a loanee.

Forrest did start well last year too hopefully he continues in this vein.

He may fulfill the potential. Could be a really important player for us. Still think he's better wide right when he stretches the game.

Wailer, I know we've had this before, but why do you go on about Roberts being on loan as if it that should come into the managers thoughts on who to play? :ponder: He's a Celtic player as of right now. This 'he isn't our player' is inaccurate. If there were anything to it he wouldn't be playing against City on Wednesday.

He was being managed by a couple of diddies. One of whom told him never to use the outside of his foot for shooting again. Forrest is a player who needs to be encouraged and feel wanted. Pulling his contract and benching him didn't help with that.

He has always had the ability and talent despite what many on here say about him.

You can't blame Lennon and Deila for him failing to perform over a sustained period of time. Especially when other players in the squad were performing to acceptable standards under them.

I wish Rodgers would tell him to calm down with the outside of the foot shooting, tbh. His left is more than good enough to get shots away when necessary.

I didn't mention who the manager should be picking I did have an issue with folk wanting Roberts to play over Forrest when Forrest was showing good form. Forrest is our player and come May, possibly January, Roberts won't be*. Possibly Forrest could go too but at least we'd make money from that.

*Unless.... ;)

I'm not blaming Lennon.

Deila and Collins.

As I have said before, he is a player that can pop up with a goal - at times we have struggled for that.

I don't think any on here have doubted his ability.

His attitude was/is the problem and add to that the fact he is a shampooebag.

I still don't think he is anywhere near good enough for Celtic and if he can only 'perform' for some managers rather than others then he shouldn't be with us.

He is having a good spell and I really do hope the talent you see come's to fruition, but I just see the same old thing happening with him - a good spell and then months of nothing/injured/hair flicking and petulant arm throwing.
