Hopefully this will silence the "waste of jersey" critics for a bit. Definitely good enough for this Celtic team
I'd rather he silences the critics by performing on the field than by signing a new contract.

He started the game well on Sunday. Play like that consistently and everyone will be happy.

I don't think I could say that he's done enough to earn the new contract, but I do think he's a player that could be useful for us.

And if nothing else, it means we can get a fee for him in the summer :ph43r:

We all know what he looked like he could be capable of, but it's been a long time since those days.

If Rodgers sees something, I have no problems trusting him.

Clean slate for all players under Rodgers for me.

Heartless, shiftless & waste of a jersey.

Terrible decision.
Define "shiftless"?

Not sure I'd have given him yet. He has started well but still has a lot to prove.

Genuinely hope he keeps it up though.

Perhaps it's a zero-hours contract that he's signed?

Edit - I'm sure many on here would hope that it is...

I would love to be proved wrong and who knows BR may just be the man to turn around a career that was going nowhere fast.
Yes Forrest has pace, but so does a bloody greyhound, he has to prove that he has the brain and more importantly the heart to make it. As has been said for the last number of years 'this is a big season for him'; I hope he has a stormer of a season but I have my doubts.
That said he is a Celtic player and will get my full backing.
"C'mon Jamesy prove us all wrong".

he has talent and i hope BR can get him to use it. on the plus side the way we are signing players we still want appears to show mulgrew is not in mix for new contract

Very strange move in my opinion, especially 3 years. I sincerely hope he isn't getting a wage rise because he has done very very little to deserve it. If he's going to start working his ass off for the team then I will happily applaud him but if he's going to continue being the James Forrest we've come to know, then this will be a mistake.

I wish him luck tho.

 When was the last time he was out injured for a period ?

Maybe the ref's will actually do their effing job and protect him, and others, from the SPL cloggers.

Don't get the hate personally. So much to improve on, including fitness, but it's hardly beyond him, especially at his age. He's been a good player for us over the years and that's something that can't be denied, despite the recent setbacks. Besides, the new contract only means we'd be in a position to command a heavier fee for him if we do eventually shift him, so why the collective bitching? :ponder: it's a win win for all concerned.

Would have waited a bit longer and made him put in some more good performances but quite happy he's sticking around. Last few ganes he's ran himself into the ground pressing which he hasn't done for years.

Would rather he left but hope Rodgers can get the best out of him.

Can only imagine Sinclair and Roberts will be our first choice wingers this season so other than covering for injuries I can't see him being a starter most games.

I get why people want him moved on but can't wrap my head round why they think he's not a good player. It's absolutely obvious to me that he has a great deal of ability. He's not living up to it certainly, but the ability is clearly there.
