Robben rarely relied on pace to beat a defender, close control and trickery beat them.

Forrest is, and I'm not being disrespectful or snide here, a one trick pony to a large extent. He knocks the ball past the defender and leaves him for dust. But now that his pace, and more importantly his burst of acceleration, is nowhere near what he was he doesn't seem to be able to beat a full back down the line anymore. It's been that way for nearly two seasons now.
So that wasn't him that burned a full back early in the season (DU iirc) and pulled it back for a goal (and did his hamstring in the process)?
You talking about this? It hardly shows explosive acceleration to be fair. Did well in the initial challenge, although the two DU players were weak, but then strolled into open space. Didn't "burn" anyone. The fact that he did his hamstring without even breaking into a sprint is not a plus.

Edit to say timecode doesn't seem to be working but it's at 4:30

Got to love KDS, we are discussing James Forrest and Arjen Robben is popped in there! Fantastic, demented but Fantastic.
Robben popped in solely because of his early career injuries which have been overcome later in his career. I mentioned him because Patrick Bateman thinks Forrest will struggle to overcome his problems and will more than likely lose pace. While this is a safe bet, Robben, and others, have shown individual training plans tailored to suit can help overcome these things

I could find it if you really don't believe me.

But it would be better if you either just accepted it, or you could believe its exactly the kind of lie I have been keeping for just such a thread and saw my chance to gain credibility on the internet with my false Brown / Forrest trump card.

It was on Celtic tv, not too long ago - He was asked a lot of questions, one of them was who is the most skillful player and he said emphatically Forrest, I think he also went on to say something about how he could do things with the ball that were special.

Why do you find it so difficult to believe?

'Most skillful' is a long way from 'best' - in fact, discounting Messi and possibly Ronaldo, I'm struggling to think of a team where the most skillful player would be regarded as the best player.
Silva, Hazard, Di Maria, Griezemann, Robben, Reus, Sterling, Sanchez and Ibrahimovic. I'd say it's nearly the case in most teams with a few exceptions.

There's arguments in there for a few of those. Most notably the first one.

Strolled ffs. At least be honest in your criticism.

And Forrest would have put away that early GMS chance. :ph43r:

I am being honest. He didn't sprint, he didn't even get out of second gear.

Yet City struggle the most when Yaya isn't there.

If City fail to win the league this season, which looks likelier than them winning it, is it a coincidence it is a season that Toure has been away last the AFCON?

His 2nd gear must be very impressive as there were plenty sprinting to keep pace with him.

Is that a list of players who are very skillful, but not quite the best player in their team?

Not all of them are even the most skillful in their team.
