Forrest is a far better football player than GMS, the fact it's even being discussed is mental.
Forrest is heavy, heavy pish. At least GMS can cut in or go to the byline. Forrest can only go to the byline, has no tricks, and isn't fast enough to beat any defender who weighs less than 16 stone. Completely disagree. GMS is utter dross and nowhere near Celtic level. Forrest is. That's just my opinion.

I'm lost - how can a player who's had more shampoo seasons that good ones still be considered an 'asset' - it's entirely possible that he was a decent young player who had potential but never fulfilled it
Can anyone think of another promising teenager who finally found form after 4 seasons of being quite poor?
What is it people are seeing? Genuinely - he hasn't had a good game in years
We need talent - skill and ability in this team and we need it now, for Europe - I'm not saying the answer is GMS either but I do ask on a sincerity / how on earth can people still think Forrest is the answer?

For me, he was our biggest attacking threat in the CL qualifiers last year (easily) and was also the player most likely to carve an opening out of nothing for most of our league games before Xmas (easily).
He took an absolute kicking on here as the results and performances of the team were generally bawz and many of the chances he opened up resulted in nothing - that kind of criticism is par for the course with creative players.
A couple of better players around him, and a better system to play in, and i'm almost certain he'll once again be a great asset.
I now fully expected to get absolutely hounded for offering my opinion on why i like JF, but hopefully i've answered your question.

The fact that we seem to be keeping players the majority of us don't rate before we sign some better players is a worry.

JAMES FORREST was once Celtic’s Golden Child. Then the Hoops winger became the Lost Bhoy of Parkhead. Frozen out under Ronny Deila after contract talks collapsed, Forrest’s days looked numbered. But new boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to hand him a lifeline with the promise of a fresh start. And the Parkhead gaffer has urged Forrest to grab his chance to impress on the pre-season trip to Slovenia. He said: “James is a talent. He’s gone off the radar in the last couple of years from where he was at. “Hopefully in the next six months he can get back on track and see Celtic as the club for him. “Does he have a future here? Very much so. His contract is up in December and he’s one I am looking forward to analysing. “James has obviously had a run of injuries and maybe that held him back but he is a big talent. “I don’t know him well enough yet but I know he has got ability. “From the few days I have worked with him he looks fit and fresh and hopefully the way I work will suit his aggressive style. “You have to be able to defend but you also have to be able to attack and he has got great attacking ability. “So lets hope he can stay clear of injury and recapture his best form. “I hope over the next six months James sees his future at the club. “Like with every player, we want them to be here and play for Celtic. But if they don’t want to be here? That’s absolutely fine. “This is a huge club, one of the biggest in the world, playing in a great league. “You have the chance to play every other week at Celtic Park. That is a wonderful opportunity for any player.” While Forrest is playing for his future, Rodgers has already identified skipper Scott Brown as his main man. The Celtic midfielder was taunted by new Rangers rival Joey Barton this summer — with the Ibrox star questioning his ability. But Rodgers has no doubt that Broony is ready to lead a new era at Celtic after a much-needed summer break. He said: “Scott doesn’t need Joey Barton to be up for a battle. “That’s the beauty of him. He is so committed. Watching him over the years, he’s up for every game. “There isn’t any motivation needed from anywhere. “I’ve been really impressed with Scott. Gordon Strachan was great with him and gave some time off from the internationals. “That seems to have worked very well for him. “You get some players like Scott, when you look at his history. He was a young player at Hibs, playing down that right side up and down the pitch. “He has spent the last 11 or 12 years like a racehorse going up and down. At the end of the season, having played 50 or 60 games, he is away playing international football. He’s barely had a rest and that’s what happens with good players. “Scott struggled with injury last season but he played through it and now he’s had a breather. “He feels great, he looks fit, he’s moving well and I am looking forward to seeing an outstanding player. “He has a great mentality and he will lead Celtic with pride in whatever game he’s playing.” Rodgers take his Celtic squad to Slovenia tomorrow for a four-game tour ahead of the Champions League qualifier. He will use the trip to work on fitness and tactics — but admits his early remit is to find a system that brings short-term success. Rodgers said: “It will give me a chance to talk to players and form the spirit and togetherness that we want as a club. “It will let me assess the players’ fitness and also look at the most stable shape and formation in the early part of the season. “I like my teams to be flexible tactically but that will take time. “But the players will be pushed physically and hopefully the whole group will be closer by the time we come back. “The attitude of the players has been outstanding and that is always refreshing. They have been very good. “There is a long, long way to go but it has been a great first step for us.” http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/celtic/7204575/Brendan-Rodgers-vows-to-get-James-Forrest-back-on-track.html

I don't recall the league form before Christmas at all and we didn't have much of an attacking threat in the qualifiers if I recall - I do remember the discussions on here where he was described after one game as 'our most potent threat' in a game where posed no threat at all - but that's fitba

Perhaps our manager has seen something he likes? Forrest is a talented player. Some respond to a change in manager. They do. It happened under MON. Several players who looked abject cowards the season before were transformed.

They do. It happened under MON. Several players who looked abject cowards the season before were transformed. Yep.
Is it too much to ask that the same clean slate afforded each member of the squad by the manager is given by the support?

Personally I think everyone is being shoulderist here. Yes I realise it would be ideal if all our playsrs had at least one, ideally two shoulders. Under the Bold Brendan he will. come good. Possibly

wee janmsie was always likely to change his mind being one of the one`s who had major fallout with Deila..would let him go as was his original wish, not because Deila is gone but because he has repeatedly been shampooe over a long period of time

If the contract offered is less than his current contract and on a pay per play basis, the I'd be happy. Anything else he can feck off. Rewarding arseholes is not a good precedent.
