I'm afraid Forrest hasn't had a decent season since 2011

2011

Way too many excuses made for him - he needs to go elsewhere and sharpish
Yep. Not done much since.

Another Scottish player with a poor physique.

RD said when he arrived Forrest had a really weak core which put extra strain elsewhere on his body hence the injuries. He had to build it up to give himself a better foundation to work with. My question is, how could he be allowed to get into that state in the first place? Before the cup final, WGS was remarking how John McGinn is one of the few Scottish players with good core strength and was one of the reasons for his call-up to the national team. What is going on at youth level that something like this is happening? It's fundamental to all sport and just doesn't happen in other countries.

Anyway, prepared to see what Rodgers and particularly Driscoll, who seems to put a big emphasis on core training, can do with him. I expect him to go the same way as Stokes and Commons though, out the door.

Hope he impressed in pre season. The rage on here would be hilarious if he stays.
I agree. I keep reading & hearing how talented all these fringe players in our squad are yet the very same fans want shot of our most accomplished "young" player. I can only assume it's down to familiarity and the failure of Forrest to live up to unfair expectations. Maloney & McGeady were victims of this too. In fact I can remember how Forrest was a far better player than McGeady according to some on here and how he was going to have a better career  This was when McGeady was leaving fir Moscow.

You what?

Nothing "unfair" about it either. He's been crap for ages.
Which of our fanatstic young players have done it at a higher level? Which have shown they are capable of matching Forrest at his best?

Lennon mentioned the core thing about Forrest as well and said they had a decision to make about whether they build him back up so to speak or managed his playing time.

Then we did eff all and he continued to get injured.

Seems we decided in Ronny's first year to give him the time to get himself right. What then held him back was lack of game time because he wouldn't sign a new contract.

Needs to go.

I don't think that we can keep giving players chance after chance after chance. I'm sure it will eventually form some sort of log jam with up and coming players. Also, I think up and coming players Will get demoralized if they are continually held back by an underperforming older player.
I think a club must take a stand sometime and decide that enough is enough and if the particular player doesn't perform in the next match ( after all their chances) then their time is up. And if their performance on that particular day is not good enough for whatever reason , then they know the consequences.
I personally think James Forrest has used up his allowance of chances. And if him going means we have an underperforming GMS in his place, well take your chance GMS or follow Forrest out the door.
I'm all for a settled squad but if the players ain't good enough they ain't good enough.

He's a symptom of what is wrong at Celtic at the moment. He fits into the can't be bothered category.

Those holding out for a turn around in attitude in him are only repeating what has been said at the start of the season just gone and the season before that and the season before that.

He's had far too many chances and wasted them all. There was a player in there somewhere but I doubt we will ever see it now regardless of wherever he washes up next.

We should stop wasting time, effort and money on him as it's simply not worth it, ship him out. I would pay up the rest of his contract until December to move him out now.

I really Forrest as a player when he's on his game. He clearly didn't get on with Ronny, maybe Brendan can get the best out of him.

McGeady and Maloney had more ability in their big toe than James Forrest has in his entire body.

But by all means we should keep him around and use his wage to get it up the KDS loyal.

Every dog has their day.

He had his 5 years ago... For 90 minutes.

Not good enough for the SPL, never mind us!
