He's murder. Not bothered about losing him whatsoever.

Now to punt Blackett, Ambrose, Mulgrew, Boerrigter, Commons, McGregor, GMS, Ciftci & Cole along with him :Bye:

I'm not sure why there is all the ill will. When he is form he is a crackin wee player. It's went a bit pear shaped with the injuries. Probably realizing football is a short career he is probably seeing what the market is wiling to pay. He has been one of the best players to come out of the youth system in the last 10 years.
Utter drivel.

I don't think his potential wasn't realised, he was found out. His injuries just masked that fact.

He was and always will be a shampoobag.

Had potential.
Never kicked on.He's as good as he's gonna get.Was offered a 4year deal. Most players nowadayswould be delighted to have that sort of security. For reasons unknown he's decided to reject it.It wouldn't surprise me if his agent has something lined up.
He's replaceable.

Had potential ?

Whilst people salivate over the yet unseen potential of players like Allan or GMS, Forrest (who has acheived a lot more in the game than those 2 so far) is finished now ?

As I've stated earlier in this thread - if he goes, he goes.

However, he's contributed far more to 'the game' so far in his relatively short time in football - than many kids at his age.

The 'demonisation' of his abilities/character on here is disappointing.

He didn't say he was finished. Only that he had potential which he did and then didn't really use.

Which is absolutely spot on.

Considering he's ahead of Griffiths in the POTY tables on here im thinking a few posters have short memories.

Moey67 above is spot on when saying "The 'demonisation' of his abilities/character on here is disappointing"

Scott Allan had potential about 4 years ago before he left Dundee Utd - has he lived up to it ?

When you check his thread on here - many think he's the answer to our woes.

Yet Forrest ( who has acheived a lot more in the game so far) has reached his pinnacle and on a downward path to obscurity.

Best of luck to James. Probably best for club and player. Next.
I think so too. Time for him to go. It's in everyone's interests, and we wish him well.
It certainly is in everyone's interests, if he'd signed a 'reportedly' 4 year contract with us, I'd have given up completely with our board.

This, despite your attempts, isn't about Scott Allan. It's about James Forrest.

Forrest has been at Celtic for 6 years, he's not progressed as his potential suggested he should.

The guy didn't say he was finished, he said he had potential. Which is absolutely right, he did have potential and didn't live up to it.

People don't think Allan is the answer, they want to find out if he is. I'd like to see him given a run of starts.

Could it be the case that Forrest himself recognises he hasn't progressed as hoped and decided he needs a fresh challenge rather than taking cash every week for doing feck all as some put it.
Maybe he's fed up with the downsizing and realises he may improve elsewhere with better players around him?

Aye. He really strikes me as someone who's likely to have that level of foresight and self-analysis.

Am I right in thinking that we appeared to get more out of Forrest under previous managers? Or am I wrong? As something, somewhere appears to have gone wrong for him.

Is it simply the case that he did not progress or the players around him changed and/ or whatever style of play that we attempted to introduce did not suit him or he could not adapt to?

I think if he ends up at the right team, with a set up that suits him, that he will do better than he has been these past 18 months. If folk think Ronnie will be away at the end of the season could Forrest be an asset then? Bit academic as it's a huge gamble to up a contract offer when he has done little to merit the one he refused or not agreed to, during the past 18 months, so it might be a case of cutting our losses and not taking a huge gamble.

He's been someone who has had the 'its a big season for him' tag for about 4 years. Never fulfilled his potential and its probably in everyones best interests for him to move on.
