Do you think he's been given the Samaras treatment? Crazy lowball offer to chase him out the door?

Disappinted in this and pretty disgusted at Deila's publicising of the contract negotiations.
All he has said is that Forrest turned down the offer - what is he supposed to say - that negotiations were ongoing when they weren't ? He didn't as far as I am aware reveal the contents of the offer so AFAIAC Ronnie has nothing to answer for in this case.

Regardless of what I think of his talent or lack of, I cant blame him for wanting out when it looks like the club are determined to stick with deila. I mean, given the resources at Celtic, should any manager be 'shunning' talk of a league title at this stage of the season. If he was half decent, he would be out getting measured for a celebration suit.

Quite alarming that we'd offer him another four years, given the last three have been useless. This is the best option for both parties.

He'll end up fighting relegation from the Championship then come back to Scotland.
Ross Wallace has carved out a pretty decent career in the Championship so I have no doubt Forrest could do the same.
Wallace is a much more technically gifted player than Forrest. Remember too that Wallace broke into a much better Celtic team and then got shunted about to accommodate others. A 25 year old Wallace was far superior to a 25 year old Forrest.

Don't know how some can think he'd be a good Championship player when he isn't a good SPL player.
The quality in the English Championship is extremely overrated.

He might be playing against some better players, but he'll also be playing against some worse one. What he's unlikely to be playing against is a raft of defenders and midfielders with no intention of leaving their half and zero space in behind.

As I've said plenty on this thread, I don't rate him that highly, but I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say he has some qualities that a team in that league could find valuable. Might not work out for him, but hopefully a change does him good.
It is overrated but it's also a million miles better than the crap up here. Excluding Celtic and one or two Aberdeen players the quality of this league is League 2 level at best.

You make a fair point about defences but it'll be offset by the fact his end product is virtually non-existent. He'll beat a few men then hit a cross at the first man (in row Z).

If you blinked you'd have missed Ross Wallace's Celtic career. Most notable for being used as a stop gap lb.

Infinitely better than GMS when on song,
Quite honestly, Forrest isn't infinitely better than anyone and never has been.

disagree. There's a really good player in there, but injury and perhaps a weak mentality have prevented him from progressing. We only saw him at his best in flashes.
was that last word chosen carefully

I'm afraid I have never bought into the myth about Forrest...he wont be missed

I wish him no ill, but will be glad to see him go.
Over the last two seasons, he's been striving for stagnation.

I'd say he was most notable for being halved by Hartley at Tynecastle. I liked him. Whether he was better than Forrest doesn't really matter much given we have about 100 midfielders. Paying to keep a reserve for 4 years doesn't seem a sensible option.

He looked like he could be really good in his first season but the injuries have robbed him of any potential he might have had. I don't think he's going to be that big a miss.

I think he's extremely lucky to be offered a 4 year deal with us and mental to turn it down. It wouldn't exactly be pennies he was offered.
