James Forrest is 24. The same age as a lot of our attacking options who have yet to show they are capable of producing at a level Forrest has. If he leaves it'll be bad for both club and player. I'm not going to shed tears as quite frankly there's not one player at the club who I'd be gutted to see leave but of all our attacking players he is the most experienced.

Like the majority of those playing in the three Forrest's form has went out the window after a decent wee spell earlier in the season. That is something which needs addressed if we are to continue playing this formation.

Has he got long enough on his contact to get a decent fee?

Sometimes players just need s fresh start.

Good luck to him, he'll do a decent job and earn a good living wherever he goes. Not far off 200 appearances for the hoops and leaving with more than a handful of medals and caps.

Well done son.

Efe is the most experienced out of all our defenders, doesn't mean I want him to hang around.

Forrest is one of too many Celtic players to rest on their laurels, he's well paid and doesn't do feck all to deserve it so I can only imagine a significant pay cut was part of this new deal he was offered. Mulgrew is much in the same boat and you could potentially throw Commons and Brown in there depending on how the rest of their seasons go. Shock horror, the senior Scottish members of the squad.

From the chat coming from Deila and Christie over recent weeks regarding people deserving their place and wanting to be a part of the team, its obvious there will be a much needed clear out in the summer and I'm happy to see players like Forrest that have failed to deliver for long periods of time being told its their time to go.

I'm disappointed it hasn't worked out for him but he's been in and around the first team for a long time and still hasn't been able to keep himself fit consistently enough to cement a long term place in the side. He won't be missed.

He should get a decent championship club but we should have looked to punt him in January.

What level is that & when did he last show it? I can't remember.

Forrest should not be considered in any way the benchmark for our other attacking mids, unless it's how not to perform.

One trick pony that the SPL defenders have sussed, and too much time on the treatment table. Won't be missed :Bye:

Hope we get some cash for him at the end of the season. Delighted he wants to waste the rest of his career elsewhere.

Is he not out of contract? Maybe get a development fee?

Think he has regressed in the last couple of years. How much that is down to attitude or injuries I couldn't say. On the basis of the last season and a half, he is not worth another contract. If he is thinking on a big career south of the border, there won't be many takers, even at Championship level. He is very injury prone and that won't help his case. Ross Wallace is a far better bet than Forrest. Very successful in England with over 300 EPL/Championship appearances since he left us. And, unlike Jamsie, Ross can cross a ball, surely a prerequisite for a winger.

As of now he's made 187 appearances, scored 30 goals and made 27 assists. Under Lennon he made 126 appearances, scored 24 goals (19%) and made 21 assists (17%) whilst under Deila he's made 61 appearances, scored only 6 goals (10%) and made only 6 assists (10%).
Interesting stats.

He hasn't kicked a ball in at least 2 years yet he seems to have managed to convince himself (if nobody else) that he's a player.

Better off rid.

This was already telegraphed when, Collins an Deila said we had too many midfielders and there would be a clear out. You'll probably also see Mulgrew and Commons out. I wouldn't be surprised if Nir Bitton was sold.

Like them or not, that's a lot of useful experience. So the expectations being lowered for next season some more. If we manage to win a very tight league, we will be trying to qualify for Champions League with a young team. So it will be more of the same as this season and Rony will be in charge to manage the continued downsizing.

It seemed Malmö was able to have experienced players and it helped them in our fixtures. Their manager was also more experienced. It helps.

Even at his best under Lennon he was never that great, too cowardly. He has regressed terribly. Best for all if he moves on. Won't get the wages we were paying him at Brentford or Sheffield Utd or whoever picks him up though.

Malmo's experienced players have probably been training the same way for years. Ours are probably like "eff this"
