A glorified Paddy McCourt. He'll not be missed.
He couldn't lace Paddy's boots.
:lmao:

Anyway this update is neither pleasing or disappointing, just the culmination of Forrest's Celtic career.

As it stands he'll leave in the summer with 6 seasons of first team football, including helping us to 5IAR, 2 seasons of UCL group stage participation and win a few cups.

Personally I think he was underrated for long parts of Lennon's tenure and earlier this season was wildly claimed by some to be breaking new ground. In reality he's a moderately talented, old-fashioned, direct winger who is either fantastic or anonymous. Combined with injury and muscle development issues, it's not hard to figure out why he's not been consistent in his form and has regressed somewhat. That being said I actually think he's fulfilled his potential by and large.

As of now he's made 187 appearances, scored 30 goals and made 27 assists. Under Lennon he made 126 appearances, scored 24 goals (19%) and made 21 assists (17%) whilst under Deila he's made 61 appearances, scored only 6 goals (10%) and made only 6 assists (10%).

With Roberts and Christie coming into the side I think he'll struggle to make the bench in most weeks, but I hope he isn't shut out completely. In any case I will always cherish his injury time winner v Karagandy (seems like a lifetime away), his 1st half in Udine, his 2nd half in Moscow, him terrorising Broadfoot (not hard  ) in the Ledley huns game, his directness at Ibrox in the Sammy huns game, the steel he showed to smash home the penalty v Ajax and on a personal note I enjoyed my first trip to Easter Road in the away end when he curled in the equaliser.

Good luck when the time to leave arises James

Infinitely better than GMS when on song,
Quite honestly, Forrest isn't infinitely better than anyone and never has been.

disagree. There's a really good player in there, but injury and perhaps a weak mentality have prevented him from progressing. We only saw him at his best in flashes.

But home grown players stay longer than foreigners :ponder:

He's not kicked on as we'd hoped.

Always defended the guy, said he needed a run free from injury.

Well he's had it this season and he's been pretty disappointing for the most part.

Forrest is the Scottish Samaras, without Sammi's passion.

Surprising myself by being unconcerned that he is leaving. Had always thought that he could be a star. Turns out he is a marginally faster, more injury prone, Owen Archdeacon.

Forrest is a decent/good player on his day, which isn't anywhere near frequent enough.

Time to shift a few bodies on in the summer.

He's only one of numerous players who should be shown the door this summer.

This is a great start though.

Can't see him getting a move to the premiership, a move to China perhaps?

He's a waste of time and I'm glad to see the back of him. He had some potential but no heart or desire to kick on.

English Championship most likely. Leeds, Rotherham or suchlike.

Given the mentalism of some of the transfers to China recently we might actually still get a decent fee if we managed to punt him in that direction

best news I've heard today, I think he's a player who thinks he's better than he is, when on his game he's a decent player but that's few and far between these days and he's not even a first team choice any more. Best outcome for us and him is to move on
