Tierney has just made his 50th appearance for us at the age of 19 while Feruz who is now 21 has made 13 career appearances according to Wikipedia. Mental.

Edit: Didn't Feruz get a run out in some bounce game at Celtic Park?

He should be presented with the short story of Islam Feruz and nothing more should need to be said about where his development should take place.
Exactly. I saw Izzy playing when he was that age and he was phenomenal. Sometimes you need more than sheer talent to make it as a pro. Fingers crossed for wee Dembele.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Why would that be?
Because when he turns 16 the likes of Chelsea/man city can buy him a house and pay him £10000+ a week. For his development he would be better staying with us and getting champions league experience rather than playing in Chelsea youths but money talks.
you don't think that every big team down south knows everything about him?

promoting him to a higher lvl than U14 now and again and generally showing that we have faith in him are the best chance we have in keeping him

Think he may have played in one of those testimonials or tribute games alright. Anyone remember? I think it might just have been when Larsson was back for one of them?

Can't say I agree that playing with 20 year olds is the best place for a 13 year old to develop. Odd decision IMO.
This. Fair play to him getting the chance though, must be a decent prospect.
Decent prospect ?. He's absolutely outstanding,I know most 13 year old talents rarely fulfill their talent, but this wee guy is very special.
He physical strong and quicker at that age group(03), but there are better technical players at that level. Also, the other 03s might get a chance to shine now.

The lads will catch up with him physically. He'll get ruined.

Hope your right. He's such a special talent that maybe we could push the boat out when we offer him a professional contract.Without putting pressure on the boy he actually reminds me a bit of Maradona though obviously he won't reach that level.

To be honest, I can't see the problem in playing him if he has the standard required to play at the lvl it doesn't matter how old he is

There is no reason to to keep him playing with and against players that he is vastly superior to. He looks to have killed the kids at his age, no idea on what lvl the U15-U17 are playing at and if he has been playing with team at times, but if the management teams feels that it will develop him to put him into the development side, the fine by me. Playing that 8-10 min most likely will have learned him more than running the show for a full 90 min at his own age group.

Some folk have a right inferiority complex when it comes to Celtic these days. Hes 13 FFS and you've got him sold already

If money talks 100% of the time, his namesake in our 1st team would be at Tottenham Hotspur this season. Maybe, given this apparently boy grew up in Govan, its not beyond the realms of possibility he actually wants to play for Celtic for a while.

Especially given that fact that the last future world beater, Islam Feruz, who took the house and the money is now playing for Excel Mouscron.

Just a one off as half the development squad are away on international duty. They normally draft in players from the U19s when that happens, but apparently they're playing Sevco U19s on Tuesday so they pulled in players from younger age groups instead on this occasion.

Sounds like the lad has talent anyway, let's hope he continues to develop and becomes a first team regular and certified hunskelper by the time we complete 10 in a row :)

Good on him but I do think you need to be mentally tough to become a footballer. Getting rag dolled and made to look silly against the older boys could have an detrimental effect on such a prospect. Obviously this was only because of the international break and it was only 10 minutes he got at the end. I just think at such a young age, it might be better to keep him grounded until he is 15/16.

I know its a completely different level but when I was younger playing pro youth, my Dad talked me into quitting as I was only really getting 10 minutes here and there. I had planned on dropping back down a level to local sides but my confidence was shattered and it took me about another 2 years before I went back.

Not sure it's a good idea. Somebody could half him. He's too young to be risking him at that level
I was thinking that seeing the pictures :o

Have to be honest and say I haven't seen much of the kid and when I read the comments about him too young I thoughts whats the harm?

However seeing the size of him it isn't the best of idea's. Maybe trying to teach the kid a bit of a lesson? Could be nipping at the coaches ears to make a step up but this was their way of showing him physically he isn't ready?

Wee fella looks magic.

Hope we can hang on to him when he turns 16, the likes of Barcelona will be looking at whatever it takes legally or illegally to take him. We have definitely made him a known prospect with that debut last night.

He will be well known by all the big clubs in europe. He was player of the tournament at a cup in holland earlier this year. Barcelona had a team in the same tourney.

Hope im wrong but i doubt if we will have him when he hits 16.

Can someone who saw Islam Feruz play as a Celtic youth compare him with the young(er) Dembele?
