paul george being let go in january and currently training with aberdeen (and posting trolling selfies with shay logan titled oneshaylogan)

shame he was put out the game for a year by a sickening leg breaking challenge against the huns just as he was in and around the first team. not sure hed have been as good as the hype and potential suggested when he was paraded at celtic park as a 15 year old but that definitely harmed his progress

the u19s are going to the mercedez benz indoor junior cup in stuttgart at the start of january again
Yeah, I saw that instgram post. I think George looks like he likes a night out or three.

Shame. I saw him in one youth game against Aberdeen at Barrowfield round about late 2011, just when he was starting to make the fringes of the team. He set up three goals (two for Watt) and scored one absolute worldy, were he took it by about 5 or 6 Aberdeen players. I was sure he'd have a real good chance of making it with us.

That injury never helped, but sadly I'm not so sure he has the right attitude.

He got in the same lift as me in a Q-Park once. He was visibly wearing fake tan (poorly applied) and his eyebrows were sculpted in the Jersey Shore fashion. He was wearing hi-tops of a particularly garish hue.

He is clearly an absolute roaster.

Celtic rated Paul George very highly. Guy is a roaster, and only reason he is still here is because Celtic rated him as highly.

Injuries and his attitude/behaviour wasted his chances.

Mainly just the usual stuff with young players going off the rails a bit - too much money going to his head, nights out, a bit of a drinker etc supposedly.

Also supposedly an incident in Northern Ireland which Celtic were very unhappy with when he was recovering from injury, but kept him due to his potential.

Supposedly if he wasn't as highly rated he would have been punted long ago.

Yip, going by his open to public Instagram account, he already thought he was a premiership footballer.

Constant photos of his expensive designer shoes/clothes/car. Not to mention countless nights out holding a drink.

You wonder what's between these young lads' ears. Very few brain cells, that's for sure. Had a chance to make it at Celtic and throws it away.

"Had a chance to make it at Celtic and throws it away."

A timeworn tale. It's no coincidence that the guys who tend to make it here - McGeady, Maloney, McManus - are the most conscientious and hardworking.

shame for the boy. so many of our youngsters have had terrible luck. paul the tim is saying its a broken ankle which could hopefully be a lot quicker to recover from than a broken leg

http://videocelts.com/2014/12/blogs/younghoops/cruel-injury-blow-to-youngster

Kieran Tierney suffered a broken leg in training- 24 hours after making the first team substitutes bench for the first time.

Does the club employ someone (outside the training staff) to sit footballers down and talk to them especially the young footballers - a Social Worker would be the wrong title but hopefully you know what I mean.

celtic are currently trying to sign a kid I used to coach a couple of years ago. He's nothing special, even at boys club level, but he's absolutely massive for his age. This is the 3rd freakishly tall but limited youth I've known Celtic to sign.

It's absolutely astonishing that the club are still pursuing this policy.
:ffs: That's depressing.
I wouldn't believe Celtic were doing this if I hadn't seen it first hand. it's a definite policy of Celtic's. I don't know what the thinking is behind it, whether they're just trying to just win games at youth level by signing big kids, or whether they've taken a decision that big kids make better players in the future.

Either way, don't believe the hype about Celtic's approach at youth level, it might be well-funded but there's some unsophisticated thinking behind their recruitment.
I had this confirmed by a friend in Hibs youth development, they were astonished Celtic had brought in effectively 3 massive boys, that were utterly pathetic as footballers but could be used to physically dominate their more skillful opponents at that age group :nono: Hibs still beat them.

For this to be happening going into 2015 is staggering, i thought it was well established this sort of thinking had held back Scottish football for more than 30 years. Everyone knows that once the rest of the kids physically mature, all the big donkeys whose only attribute was their strength, is now negated as everyone has strength. A relatively wee guy like Sergio Aguero (5ft 8) is now a feckin tank and can hold off any big bastard centre half.

If anything the Barcelona model that produced the best club side in history taught everyone to stand by your skillful players, even if they're midgets.

Celtic youth set-up know better, bring in big donkeys and try teach them to play :ffs: I can only think it's been done to help get results at that age group but if so that's absolutely scandalous they need to bring in 'enforcers' at under 14s or the like to get results. Who gives a shampoo what the results are at under 13, 14, 15s as long as players are being developed in the right way, concentrating on improving skill / technique.

I wouldn't question the masterminds behinds these kind of decisions but when you look at what has actually came through to the first team over the last 10 years or more, you wonder how anyone is that set-up is justifying a wage :suspect:

Celtic Glasgow has the most fierce and bitter rivalry existent in soccer towards the Rangers, their city rivals, due to the fact that both clubs stand for different confessions, feelings of identity and even different social classes.

Currently, however, the Rangers are not just symbolically playing in a different league. Following the bankruptcy of the operating company, the federation shifted the Rangers into the fourth league in conformity with the statutes. The Rangers are presently on their gruelling journey back following two direct promotions, which ensured them second place in the second highest Scottish league.

Regarding the big guys at youth levels....Hibs probably have the biggest youths going, last season they were swapping them up & down to suit whichever side had the hardest games.

Delighted to see the return of Willie McStay

Is it? Does he have a good record in this area or is he just an easy option with a club connection? Genuine question.
