Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Big Jock floated this idea back in the day and was basically told to GTF.
Any idea why?
Because he was way ahead of his time & one of the best football brains on the planet.

It might turn out to be a follow on from the Irn Bru cup to a B team/Colts playing in the Scottish League, though with a pyramid system now in place, such a team would probably need to start at the bottom in the Lowland League. After watching the demolition of Annan in the Irn Bru our second string would fly through the lower leagues to the Championship but obviously wouldn't be allowed promotion beyond that Division.

It certainly sounds like the way ahead to me.

Any idea what sort of arguments are made against this sort of proposal?
Sorry, I don't know.

For the exact same reasons that have been mooted, although to an extent the reserve league went some way to remedy that.

What do regular watchers of the youth team think of the goalies? With de vries 35, he's not really one for the future!!
Supposedly Doohan is a future first choice keeper.
Both Doohan and Hazard have been pretty solid when I've seen them play. As you say Doohan seems to be more likely to make it.

I've enjoyed watching the Development Side, and would be quite happy to watch them play in the lower leagues on a regular basis. The league are unlikely to want to change the structures to accommodate us however, nor would any of the League 2 sides vote us in as we'd be taking their place. I don't see a problem with it as (a) you could give teams 2 years notice of any changes, and (b) surely it would boost crowds and therefore these teams' coffers in the process?

So, I saw someone saying even though Nesbitt is on loan at Morton, he plays for the U20s in the Irn Bru Cup? That an actual thing or is twitter just being an arse again?

Just a reminder, the U20s are in action against Cowdenbeath in the Irn Bru Cup on Tuesday at 7:45, it's live on Premier Sports. Donald Finlay's boys are 2nd bottom of League 2 with nil points and given we pumped Annan, who sit above them, this is a very winnable tie.
I hope the lads do themselves proud again tonight.

He's playing CELTIC: Doohan; Ralston, Wardrop, McCart, McIlduff; Thomson, Ajer; Nesbitt, Hendry, Miller; Aitchison
Subs: Hazard, Higgins, Hill, Murray, Crossan, Archibald, Johnston

Thomson is also playing and he was loaned to Dumbarton.
We did this last year, allowed the young guys to play in a different environment, but also play for us against English/European teams.
It's a loophole in the U20 rules

I was wondering what Jim Duffy meant by a development loan.

Whats the rule with regards to future rounds when championship clubs are involved?

Who does Nesbitt play for? Celtic U20 or Morton?

If Celtic U20's get knocked out would he be 'cup-tied' for Morton?

I don't have a clue mate, sorry
I just remembered that it was the same scenario last season with the development players.

Nesbitt will play for us as long as we're involved, no idea if he'd be available for Morton if we were out.
