Great to see McCart and Ralston getting some game time last night.
Really pleasing to see. McCart looks really strong physically and was very composed on the ball, didn't look like a teenager making his debut.

Morton are a full-time club now and I'm quite sure they train every day at Parklea Stadium in Port Glasgow - surely anyone on loan there would train with Morton every day rather than come back and forward?
As part of the development loan systems, players can train with and play for Celtic u20s if the club wants. There were quite a few players on loan last year who still came back to train with us and play midweek u20s games from time to time but played for their loan clubs at weekend.

I think this was used more with part time teams. There's sense in both. Part of being on loan is to get experience at first team level at another club. That includes training under another manager.

But part of being at Celtic should surely be that out young players train with the first team and get the benefit of the resources and coaches we have. The difference is that they can also get a game at the weekend

 I wasn't sure if they'd gone part-time the last time they were in the 3rd tier. I was going to watch them regularly at that point too, I should really have known that :cuckoo:

Went to the Morton v Falkirk game yesterday. Both the Celtic boys played well enough but nothing spectacular. Lindsay had a decent 1st half. Tidy passing and made a couple of good runs in behind that should have been picked out by his team mates. They were both subbed around 65 to 70 mins.

I get the impression that our youngsters play against better opposition on load but with better players while in the development squad. It would be better for us if we had a B team in the lower leagues so they get the best of both worlds allowing them to play against better players while playing with better players.

Might also help develop a better team spirit/understanding if the youngsters are all coming through the ranks together, instead of being farmed out to different clubs.

It might turn out to be a follow on from the Irn Bru cup to a B team/Colts playing in the Scottish League, though with a pyramid system now in place, such a team would probably need to start at the bottom in the Lowland League. After watching the demolition of Annan in the Irn Bru our second string would fly through the lower leagues to the Championship but obviously wouldn't be allowed promotion beyond that Division.

Definitely a fans favourite. He'll do well there. Linked up well with Michael Tidser who is also a decent footballer.

It certainly sounds like the way ahead to me.

Any idea what sort of arguments are made against this sort of proposal?

Also one of our own as well
There's a few of ours that end up at Morton, both on loan and permanently.

Just a reminder, the U20s are in action against Cowdenbeath in the Irn Bru Cup on Tuesday at 7:45, it's live on Premier Sports. Donald Finlay's boys are 2nd bottom of League 2 with nil points and given we pumped Annan, who sit above them, this is a very winnable tie.

Theyre full time. My mates the keeper
OT - but I went to school, and played in the same school fitba team with Morton's goalkeeping coach David Wylie.

He was a brilliant goalie as a kid, no fear whatsoever- even dived about on the red blaze pitches.
Anyway, whenever he lost a goal, he would just sit there in the box crying - it used to take us about 5-10 minutes to pick him back up and get him to continue the match.

I've not seen him for 30+ years, but sound bloke.

Supposedly Doohan is a future first choice keeper.
