Celtic Under-21 attacking midfielder Aidan Nesbitt expressed his disappointment at the humiliating 5-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea Under-21s in the Premier League International Cup on Friday.

The Blues raced to a four goal lead over Tommy McIntyre’s side within the first twenty two minutes and never looked back, going on to win the game 5-0.

The London outfit required a win to ensure progression from the group alongside league leaders Benfica, while Celtic were left at the bottom of the table, still looking to get their first points on the board.

Nesbitt admitted that he had never experienced something like the demolition at the hands of Chelsea. The 18-year-old expects never to experience a disappointment like that again and believes that the game will aide in the development of the young players.

Speaking in an interview with Celtic TV, Nesbitt said: “It was devastating, obviously we never want to lose and never want to lose in that way.

“4-0 down 20 mins into the game, I have never experienced that.

“Something for me, you know, I never want to experience that again.

“It’s happened and you don’t ever want it to happen again.

“None of us had experienced something like that and hopefully we will develop from it and hopefully it will make us better players.”

The 18-year-old midfielder is looking forward to the Premier League International Cup game against Liverpool on Saturday, which will be held at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.

This is being replayed on Chelsea TV just now. Obviously Chelsea have huge resources, but we look awful. It is quite remarkable how much faster they are than us. As well as better players, they seem to have far better athletes. Fasan has been great, and our defence have tried hard (getting numbers back whenever they can) but the commentators have been totally dismissive of us ..."Celtic huffing and puffing but showing no quality in any area" etc.

We won 3-2 anyone know who scored?
THE level of teamwork shown between Celtic’s senior players and youth stars in Tuesday night’s Development Squad victory over Falkirk has won the praise of coach, Tommy McIntyre.
A clutch of first-team squad players were handed the chance to impress and gain some valuable game-time in the 3-2 win at Cappielow, with Logan Bailly, Tyler Blackett, Scott Allan, Gary Mackay-Steven and Carlton Cole all drafted into the starting line-up alongside a core of Development Squad players.
The experienced Bhoys players jelled well with their younger counterparts, with Scott Allan, Gary Mackay-Steven and Logan Bailly in particular all having telling impacts on the outcome of the game.
Celtic had fallen 2-0 behind in the first-half but Allan’s header shortly before the break pulled them back into the tie before Mackay-Steven levelled matters with a composed finish in the second-half after Bailly had made a couple of important saves.
Jack Breslin then sealed the win after the hour mark and Development Squad coach McIntyre praised the way his young stars worked alongside the first-team players.
“I thought it was a really good game with two strong teams,” he told the official Celtic website. “Falkirk had one or two experienced players and we had a few first-team players as well which was great and really made the game.It was end-to-end stuff and really good for both teams.
“I thought Calvin Miller did well, as did Regan Hendry, and it gave us an opportunity to rest one or two players as well because they've had a lot of games. They acquitted themselves well and it was great to have the first-team boys with them because they are good examples.
“Credit to Falkirk. They really caught us on two counter-attacks but the players showed resilience to come back and stick in there. We dominated big periods of the game and created numerous chances with good set-plays.
“It was good to see us getting the goal before half-time and I think that set us up for the second-half.”
Celtic’s first goal from Allan came after Miller had rattled the post with a thunderous shot, and Mackay-Steven’s equaliser came as a result of Hendry’s inch-perfect pass to the winger from midfield.
Breslin then rounded an impressive night off for the Celts as Mackay-Steven turned provider, and McIntyre said it was a delight to see youth and experience mixing so well.
“Jack has scored a few this season and it’s good to see a full-back getting so far up the park and getting a shot in on goal,” he said.
“It was good combination with Gary as well and a good goal on our part which proved to be the winner, so we were delighted with that.”
The victory also extended Celtic’s unbeaten run in the league this season to 10 games but the Development Squad coach said he was keen to focus on the performance of his players.
“Let’s not speak too soon,” he said. “We don’t really reflect on that as the most important thing is the performance and the performance of the individuals and how they react in the games.”
Celtic's Development Squad are in action again this Friday, December 18 against Dunfermline Athletic at Broadwood Stadium Cumbernauld (KO: 1pm)

Currently winning 4-1 against Hamilton. Nesbitt x2, GMS and Wardop. Bailly apparently took a sore one, continued after treatment and was subbed at half time- fingers crossed he will be ok for Sunday.

Haven't saw any goals but according to the Twitter feed Nesbitt's goals sound like real poacher goals, right place/right time stuff. Boy can't be far away from a first team call up surely.

Edit: O'Connell was also playing- subbed after 60mins.

He has started a couple of them.

Luke Donnelly is also coming back from injury so some of the actual Development squad players need games too. I also think there is a rule about the max number of over 20 yrs players who can play at any one time.

It's strange, you would think with the lack of playing time he gets with the first team he could do with a few games. I doubt, even at this early stage, he will see out the 18 months of his contract, he just looks totally done, Citfci is a greyhound on coke compared to him. Looking like more money down the drain already, today's version of Freddie Ljungberg. What is about Celtic (of all teams) and buying so many dud strikers these days. Amido Balde was better than Cole. In fact, he might achieve the same cult status as AFB, in the so bad he's good category. Good for a laugh, not playing football. Jeez it's sad.

Aha, so we are employing the same strategy with the kids as we are with the first team.
