Would like to see them make a bit of a mark this year. Feels like a good test to see how far they have come

It's going to be a big ask for 10 boys to beat 11 men no matter the standard.

Annan win 3-1. Celtic were down to 10 from the 8th minute. Tough lesson for the kids.

No Ralston, Ajer or Miller who all would have been involved last year. Perhaps a round robin League Cup type format might give a more worthwhile experience to the Colt teams. Not a lot of value in being papped out in one game.

Having watched a lot of football in the lower divisions Lowland League Juniors etc, sorry but Annan were dire.
One or two of the Celtic youngsters i'd keep.
The rest, well just lets say i'll be seeing a lot more of in the years to come.
Probably playing for Queen of the South or Pollok.

That's the way it's meant to work, we try to filter out the best prospects and develop them.

Correct and with no doubt time, money and entrance to the Lowland League we will no doubt rightly or wrongly send a number of diddy teams back to the likes of the South of Scotland league.

CELTIC have snapped up ex-Rangers youngster Aiden Gibb.

The 16-year-old, who left Ibrox this summer, has signed a two-year deal with the Parkhead club.

Aiden Gibb has been snapped up by Celtic after leaving Rangers this summer

The family, including mum Misty and step-dad Craig, gather at Celtic Park to seal the deal
The contract offer came after Gibb, from Saltcoats, Ayrshire, spent three weeks training with the Hoops.

The former Light Blues starlet, close friends with Chelsea new boy Billy Gilmour, is said to be able to play as a winger or wing-back on either side.

And it’s claimed he had also caught the eye of Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Ayr United.

Aiden’s mum Misty Gallagher hailed her son’s dedication – and the influence of his step-dad and football mentor Craig McEvoy – as news of his switch was made public.

She told SunSport Online: “We are so, so proud of Aiden and the work he’s put into his football.

“It’s a dream move for him.

“He’s played football since he was three years old and I still remember when he was the first boy from Ayrshire to be picked for the SFA schools.

“We’re grateful for all the support he’s had.”

Saltcoats’ most famous son is Hoops icon Bobby Lennox, who scored an astonishing 273 goals in a Bhoys shirt.

Misty added: “Years ago I stayed in the same street as Bobby and he’s achieved so much.

“The kids from this area couldn’t ask for a better guy to look up to.”

Really enjoying the Academy tweets.

Awards for achieving two-footedness. Getting kids to wear head cams to track their "scanning" ability (looking around the pitch to work out where opponents/teammates are whilst play is going on).

We have a well run club

Getting kids to wear head cams

When I played I headed the ball like I was wearing one of those!

Have we adopted some of the Ajax principles in our youth development where players are learning to play multiple positions? At Ajax every player at youth level is forced to learn at least 3 positions

Think that's a really good point. Looks as if that's the way we are going with development, with players being comfortable in multiple positions can only be a good thing.

Definitely. I know Ajax for example will play a left back at left mid and left centre back or a Centre back at his preferred full back side and Central Midfield. The amount of progress in the youth system over the last decade has been insane. Great credit to everyone involved going back to TB
