Is Ajer now playing a more advanced no.10 role?
Played centre half yesterday from what I saw.

I'll be bothered about Dembele's international choice in 4 years time if he's still at Celtic. Otherwise meh.

Played centre half v City but played no.10 in the game at the weekend. Has played deeper in midfield too from what I've seen.

Obviously a versatile player, and presumably we're experimenting to work out which is his best position.

"The BT Sport commentator said it was a Manchester City U17 side against Celtic's U19s - is that correct"

Guess the guy simply didn't have the correct info or just another lazy throwaway comment....there was a total of 2 years between the entire ages of the starting line-ups, even with the addition of the subs so it was basically equal
Both sides used 3 x 16 y.o. during the course of the game

Our young side has been starting slowly and chasing the game, now it's the opposite just ran out of steam

i personally dont care what the results in these games are really. As has been said the City academy is totally different from ours too. Far bigger operation.

I watched our 19s hammering Ajax 3-0 or something a few years ago in the same competition. The only one that was playing for us that day that has played 1st team is Henderson. Ajax had 3 or 4 who got to 1st team. Who really won then?

If we can get one guy onto the first team every year from the young team we will have a successful set up. Thats all that matters.

O'Connell played in that game too, finished 4-1 to us.

I agree with your general point though, even one player coming through every season would be a remarkable success.

Watched the 2nd half thought that some of our players more than held there own with some good saves from the keeper.

City stewards gave out teamsheets at half time to City fans blanked the Celtic fans in the stadium.😂

It was a totally meaningless game in the grand scheme of things.

Given that BR has indicated that before buying in players he will look at the academy first as there may be a £20M player there...
Who are the guys most impressing there this season.
I like to keep half an eye out for the development team.

I've got high hopes for Aitchison - Hendry & Miller...while I think there is a player in Ajer once he adapts to the Scottish style.

I was hoping for more from Joe Thompson still time yet though but he needs to reallly push on

KT, Hendo, O'Connell
Delia also gave Thomson, Nesbitt and Aitchison 1st team exposure. Bhoys need to be given a chance

Aitchinson should be a certainty, cracking technique and got that lovely small centre of gravity and close control which Augero has.

I really like the look of Miller but he has to add more to his game, Johnstone looks good also and some of Donelly's finishes are brilliant.

Aitchison and Miller are both better prospects than Hendry. McCart is meant to be a good prospect but any time I've seen him he's been really ropey.

Nesbitt is far too weak, despite having good feet. Don't think he'll make it with us. Hendry is a 'nice' footballer but not 'classy' enough to ever regarded as a first team regular with the guys in front of him. In terms of McCart, I've only ever heard good things, but I've never actually seen him play well.

Miller for me will be the next one to breakthrough as he has all the physical attributes that Brendan Rodgers looks for. He's very quick, pretty strong and runs all day - ideal for pressing. Also got a cracking left peg and a goal in him. Ralston also has the physicality to play and can be moulded into a footballer, but he's really rash at times. Aitchison is probably the best prospect but he's still 16 so might be a year or 2 before we see him again making competitive appearances.
