Callum McGregor is 24 and was written off until this season, if Rodgers sees something in him and decides to give him a new contract with a view to further development I'd totally trust him with that. He started off with a lot of potential but has been seemingly stagnating lately. Time will tell, but no point in writing him off at 21 years old

I thought he did fine when he came on.
Yep don't know what they were watching he was very decent , broke up a couple of dangerous moves.
same for me , seemed to do well when he came on

He should have come on on Saturday, not looked rusty, been at full speed and scored a couple. Just like Dembele did.
Nice one. :thumbsup:

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
8th choice midfielder.
His contract will not be renewed.
8th choice or not he got the nod ahead of others yesterday and showed enough to get more game time imo.
Who did he get the nod over yesterday? :ponder:
Everyone else was either injured or already on the pitch.

You cannot judge any player in Henderson position where he gets 1 game (if lucky) every 3/4 months. He quite obviously has no future at the club but gaffer keeps him for reasons exactly like Saturday where players are injured etc.

Im no big fan iof him but sone comments are way to severe and over the top for the guy.

He has had very little game time still relatively young and to be judged on a single relatively poor performance under circumstances and subsequent comments are out of touch and harsh on him.
spot on, disappointed he hasn't really kicked on since a bright start a couple yrs ago under NL but he goes for months without even getting in squads, sounds like he did ok against Dundee

He did ok when he came on considering he must be rusty, good luck to him if he moves on as whenever he does play he gives it his all.

Callum McGregor was our best midfielder in second half of Deila's last season and had a fantastic season last season, so far this season he's been even better, no idea where the written off until this season comes from.

Henderson is as good if not better than McGregor at the same age.

Don't think that can be argued against?

Whether he makes it or not at Celtic only time will tell.

Some of the negative comments levelled at the guy are just ill-informed, unjustified, hyperbolic nonsense.

It's a shame that some 'supporters' resort to this tactic, especially as he is one of our own.

Mate, last year you yourself were saying he wasn't good enough long term.

I'm one and I still don't see what others do. His best games tend to be as a sub. He's a decent squad player but not a starter in big games if everyone fit.

He has improved I'll give him that.

1) That's 2 seasons ago;
2) I said that he'd been our most consistent midfielder that year;
3) I said I'd keep him.

So hardly writing him off before this season.

He's further down the pecking order now than he was this time last year, usurped by players his age or younger.

There were plenty who were though, first few pages of the McGregor thread are littered with them. Saying you don't think he's good enough long term is hardly a ringing endorsement is it ?

The first few pages of the McGregor thread are from when, 2014?
Again, that's not the start of this season.

I want to see the team progress and improve, and if we're to do that very few of the current squad are good enough long term :thumbsup:

It's from when he made his debut, so unless I'm missing something, the first few pages would fit well with the narrative of him being written off before this season, given 2014 was before this season.

That's just not true.

I think he changed a lot of peoples minds when he came into the team about 3/4 of the way through last season. He's been more than decent since then.

I'd start him in Munich over Armstrong.
