Stubbs usually played with 4-4-2 with a midfield diamond. In last couple of games against Rangers he switched to 3-5-2 and genders was the one to drop out
Very progressive of Stubbs that

Neil Lennon has confirmed that Hibs would have attempted to bring Scottish Cup hero Liam Henderson back to the club if John McGinn had been sold on transfer-deadline day.

The 21-year-old Celtic midfielder spent a fruitful loan spell at Easter Road under Alan Stubbs in the 2015/16 season which culminated in him setting up goals for Anthony Stokes and David Gray in the famous Scottish Cup final victory over Rangers 16 months ago.

Henderson has been largely out of the picture since returning to his parent club and Hibs, who have been monitoring his situation over the past year, would have been keen to sign him if Nottingham Forest had met their valuation for Scotland midfielder McGinn.

“Only if the McGinn thing had gone through,” said Lennon, when asked how close Henderson was to returning to Hibs. “We were weighing up options and that would have been one of them. We’ve always admired Liam but with John staying, we didn’t need to make a move.”

If we end up with injuries in centre mid like we have had in central defence this season it makes sense to hold on to him rather than let him go for buttons. No future with us and I expect he will leave as soon as a reasonable offer comes in.

If we end up with injuries in central midfield like we have in defence (3) he'd still be nowhere near the team.

I think he'd be in the squad. He made a couple of appearances last year and the only centre mid we've brought in since is Ntcham.

8th choice midfielder and I think Benyu and Roberts would start as a no.10 role ahead of him starting.

Had a brief run out last season but so did GMS.

I'm not trying to make a case for him. It's been clear for a while now that he's not good enough.

I'm new. Be gentle.
I'd make the case that he is as good as - if not better than - Bitton. His pass execution and creativity in terms of splitting defences open is very good and I think he could turn into a very decent player indeed. Granted the arrival of Ntcham has raised the bar but I would let him go out on loan to get minutes under his belt.

If Henderson got half as many games as Bitton I think he would have developed much further than he has. Hence, let him go out on loan, play regularly and develop his game and then we can pass judgement. I doubt anyone rated Ryan Christie all that much given he got no where near our first XI but he is proving at Aberdeen he has got bags of potential and the more he plays, the better he will get.

That's all a little simplistic.

He has already been out on loan. He's not, so far, developed into the player we'd hoped he would. The problem is that there has been very little development at all. He shows energy and the occasional incisive pass. He did that when he first broke through but there still isn't sign of development into a consistent player who can really influence matches.

He was excellent in the away match against St Johnstone last season. He started the next two matches and was frustratingly poor/average. I don't think his potential is better than Rogic, McGregor, Armstrong or Ntcham's are.

They're not even comparable players. Henderson is a more athletic roaming midfielder. Bitton sits deeper and recycles the ball. Bitton is a far, far better passer of the ball and I don't think Henderson could improve to that level.

I think Henderson is a decent footballer. He certainly is better than plenty in the SPL but he's not good enough for us. Best of luck to him but best he moves on.

He played a stunning pass for Guidetti to score against Inter, and has rarely played such a pass since. Still a 'does a good thing every 3-4 games' type of player, as you say he hasn't kicked on. I like him but doubt he'll make it with us.

Once Kouassi recovered from malaria, he featured in 1 of 11 match day squads.

Since then we've signed Ntcham and Benyu, and Rogic has fully recovered from injury.

He's nowhere near the squad now.
