Will he bring something to the team that McGregor/Christie/Allan cannot? I'm sure he's better than Johansen but that's damning with faint praise.

A loan move down south worked for McGregor!
Better than Johansen in the same way Christie and Allan were, and the way Ciftci was better than Guidetti?
They haven't really been given a chance have they? And who said Cifti was better than Guidetti?!

Going south did help McGregor. He was scoring for fun down there and came up and started last season brightly. He was dropped by a manager that insists on playing Johansen every week and last year played mulgrew in midfield :ffs:
On the one post you're asking if Henderson can give the team something Allan & Christie can't and in the next you're saying they haven't been given a chance. You also say you're sure he's better than Johansen yet Johansen was POTY last season and far better than both bright young things. Is this a gut feeling you have about Allan & Christie or just wishful thinking?

I'd punt Allan and get Henderson back in. He's a decent player and we need to see whether his time at Hibs has better prepared him for our team.

Henderson is a decent young player but if he's in contention for a start in midfield next season, then I doubt we'll have progressed that much as a team and certainly won't be playing Champions League football.
My thoughts exactly.

Exactly, the Allan signing makes no sense at all. Henderson, looks like there is a decent player in there and a good coach will bring that out. I would rather he stayed and got first team action at Celtic but the way things panned out, I'm glad he's away from the chaos that is the club at the moment and he can concentrate on just playing football. The midfield needs gutted but I'm hopeful this kid can do us a turn. Ye never know if ye don't give it a go and it's what we used to do.

I've watched nearly every game this season and I'd probably give Johansen pass marks in one or two. Absolutely woeful and a total poser. So yes I'm pretty certain Henderson would be an improvement. BUT Christie, for example, looked like one of the best players in the league yet can't get a look in.

Which is why I'm asking (to someone who has seen a bit of henderson) is he going to offer something that other scottish players, who had been performing well previously, can't.

I think that was pretty obvious :ph43r:

He can take a cornerkick that doens't hit the first defender, that is good enough for me, bring him back and into the first team

Delivery from the in-swinging corners were great, probably should have lead to more goals. Gives possession away too much and think there was two or three times he either slowed the Hibs break away or picked the wrong option when they had plenty of numbers going forward.

Can't see him being a first team player for us.

Mind Mancini's face when Henderson came on against Inter and cemented one of their players in front of the dugouts
:lmao:

That was amazing.

Sprinted on and proceeded to kick utter eff out of anything that wasn't green and white.
He's nae Kieran Tierney though

still early days so wouldnt be making any harsh judgements. if he can get his fitness up it would make a big difference

if hes not fully involved by august another loan move would be a decent move, not to the championship though

What a pass that led to the penalty. Should never have been loaned out, could have made a contribution to our cause this year.

Or perhaps the only reason he looks like he could have made a difference this season is because he was loaned out...

He's only 20 and learning his trade.
Stick him a team with good players and his energy and drive will be very handy.

Thought he was coming along fine with us myself but a season on loan with more
games under his belt won't have done him any harm ,think he will be a good yin.

He looked like a real good prospect when he played with us, but regular competitive football without the Celtic fans berating him for every mistake during a poor patch, see Callum McGregor, has made him a far more confident player.

It will be good to see him back at Celtic next year. Removing Commons, Allan and Forrest will reduce the overcrowding and perhaps allow him a clearer pathway to the squad.

Given the fact all of them are better than him, that might not be a great idea. I might be being slightly harsh...Allan may not be better than him but Commons and Forrest certainly are.

I think John McGinn looks like a better player and he's not good enough for us either.
Given the choice of Allan, Christie and McGinn I would have chosen McGinn. He has the physical attributes and passing ability to play central midfield, which is the area we needed cover for. And he was free! Henderson is a big strong boy, but rarely gets challenges in and when he does tends to give fouls away. He is decent offensively, but would need to improve defensively if he is to nail down a place in the first team.

All of them have ability but don't think any of them are going to make it with us. Commons is slow but has so much more ability than them IMO, Rogic is better and Roberts shouldn't even be compared to them as he's on a completely different level.
