On the basis of his assured performances at the end of last season I thought he would have been in or close to our first 11 at the start of this season. Not sure why he wasn't but he seems to have responded well by making it impossible for the manager to overlook him. Hopefully we will see plenty of him between now and the end of the season.
Good to see an Academy graduate featuring in the first team. Good young player who will benefit from the experience he got v Inter. Came on left of midfield where he's had game time if late but gets about the pitch and his ball through for Guidetti's goal was from his favoured more central position.

Our midfield players are showing they can interchange during a game which should bring goals and bodes well for the rest of the season.

I would loan him out to another club for a season in order for him to play every week. You've only got to look at Armstrong and GMS to see the benefits of playing every week.
I think he's got a real chance of making it and wouldn't want that to be stunted due to only being a sub.

Not sure about that. I'd rather he played 20 games( there's no reason he can't when some of the dross leave) here training with the team understanding what the manager wants from him and getting the right fitness than playing week in week out for a hoof ball merchant.

Fully agree.

He has more chance of developing with good players around him too.

absolutely spot on.

he's 18, and he's learning from the likes of Brown, Commons, Bitton, and now Armstrong. He looks like the kind of player who will learn quickly, so let's keep him here, and give him 15-20 games a season, and put him on the bench if he's not starting. He's actually a really good sub to have for now as he can probably play anywhere in the midfield.
Definitely a star in the making though.

Getting on a bit

Should play the full game on Sunday. There needs to be a bit of squad rotation and he has plenty of quality to be a first team regular.

I'd play him in the three behind the striker initially, then, provided we're ahead, play him at centre mid. I'd like to see him play there again. He has all the attributes; strong, quick and is a very neat passer.

When he came on he tried too hard to get up to the speed of the game and as a result he looked a bit cumbersome. He was lunging in when he shouldn't have been and his timing on tackles was way off, but he looks like he might be a brilliant player for us with a bit of polish, which European competition inevitably adds.
Agreed. When he came on I wasn't all that impressed, his pass for Guidetti's goal was of course different class and that's what I'll remember. But he has incredible potential.

Is he a smallish fella? I've got his Famine Memorial Day hoops, and I'm far from Sevconian in stature, but I can barely get the fecker over my head.

My point is that he's not getting 15 or 20 games a season. I would agree with him staying if that was the case but it's not. I'm not counting coming on for 10 minutes as an appearance as it's only paying lip service to the term.

As for saying that he's learning from Brown etc then yes I can see the benefit in that but what about him learning from someone like Jackie McNamara? It didn't do GMS or Armstrong any harm.

I fear that he needs games or his progress will stall.

He's at that age where he needs to be playing regular football or he's going to be left behind.

Either play him or loan him out, but if it's a loan it needs to be to a well-chosen club.
