Some technique for that goal. Cannot teach that
Brilliant technique to hit the ball as it drops like that whilst turning and on his bad foot. Reminiscent of the way Lampard hits the ball with his left. Very controlled.

Quite glad that we have not overused him after his introduction last season.

Don't think it would have been good for him to have been heavily involved in that spell between late July and December where we were basically playing Saturday/Midweek every week apart from international breaks.

Also like the fact we are using him further forward, at least initially, freeing him up from the slog of screening the back four as one of the two sitting players. Seems to suit him playing that bit more advanced.

An excellent prospect - strange it took so long for him to get a chance.

Can he play in the deeper role? Brown and Henderson in the deep two with Armstrong (hopefully), johansen and Forrest/commons in the front 3 behind the striker?

I'm sure Ronnie was still assessing the squad and trying to give everyone a chance. It's probably worked out for the best as he's more determined now to get Into the team, stay there and he's not had the pressure on him to carry on last season"s good form. Plus he's not had to play in a teamtthat's still finding its style and form. I like the kid a lot and he seems a level headed guy. Could be quite a young squad with the additions that may come in.

He wasn't playing well enough to play for the first team and had a form dip like lots of young players do. He went back to the U-20's and rediscovered his confidence. Hopefully he will kick on now and become a mainstay of the team.

If Deila is to succeed we need players who will fit his system and Henderson looks to be the right type. He needs a run of games now and I was disappointed he was replaced by Stokes last night.

Think Ronny has managed him quite well to be honest, expect him to be in and out throughout the season to protect him.

If he'd been thrown in at the start of the season (as some people asked) I don't think it would have done his development any good.
New manager just in and obviously gave the senior players a chance to show what they could do.
If you look back at the stick Ronny and the players were getting earlier in the season, I don't think it would have been good for Henderson to experience that.

Instead he played with the youths and worked on the way that Ronny wants to play, now we can see the benefit of that. Getting the chance to play "the system" away from constant criticism could only have been a good thing for his development.

Henderson is (hopefully) going to be a cracking player for us so happy to see him managed in a way that will benefit him/us in the long term.

Whilst I was disappointed he didn't start last night as another poster said RD has managed him well so far.

Possibly placed with the development squad last night due to the heavy knock he took on Saturday, easier to stroll a development game than go in against hammer throwers.

Just before the Dawn

we have a big squad which will be put to good use in the next few months. Henderson will get plenty game time. He probably is being nurtured carefully, and the inclusion of Stokes last night at his expense upset some, but was perfectly justifiable . The fact Stokes went on to assist in the first two goals probably saved RD from an online retrospective ear bashing . At this stage of his career, Henderson will hopefully appreciate that he can't be guaranteed a first team spot every game.

I really don't see him on the left long term. He came inside for the short pass or turn backwards all game.

Neither do I but it gets him game time in a position where he can learn with plenty of backup behind and around him.

He did and badly. Think he'd be better in his natural position as well but with Brown and Biton in there it won't happen any time soon.

Did well tonight! Brought some much needed energy to the midfield when they were waning, showed a few neat touches and provided a fantastic weighted ball over the top to Guidetti for the equaliser

With the rotation that will inevitably take place this weekend, I wouldn't mind seeing Henderson start against Hamilton on Sunday.
