Edit - So do I. The youngsters we have aren't good enough.
Young player at out club are not given the chance to develop. The young boys at our club are the best in the country.
There are not many young players at Celtic who will make it with us. Even if they are given the chance. I'm sure others who have seen them will agree.

I could use the same emoticon again but I won't.
So he should go out on loan because he doesn't start every game?

You are correct and those are the ones who should go out on loan to try and develop them. Henderson is way beyond that stage.

Did you see much of Armstrong when he was 18? I'm not saying Armstrong is not a good player , I'd have both in our team but I wouldn't be signing Armstrong if it was to the detriment of Henderson. We need to allow our best young players a chance to develop, this isn't going to happen if they are not given a decent run of games in the first team with better players.
I saw more of him than I have of Henderson. He broke into the Dundee Utd team when he was 18 and I thought he was a good player then as well. He's improved every year since then.
Fair enough, why do we even bother with our youth setup? Henderson is 18 just now and is breaking into our side and not looking out of place but hey why bother to develop our own youngsters.

I'm not saying we shouldn't develop them. Armstrong is a player who IMO would improve our team significantly over the next few years. That's why I want us to sign him.

if we bring in 2 midfielders and he is reduced to fleeting appearances from the bench and the odd start like the first half of the season it would be more beneficial for him to be starting every week for a spfl side

if we dont bring in midfielders and he will get some real playing time id rather he stayed of course but i cant see that and we have let far too many youngsters waste in the reserves/u20s/u21s. henderson is already too good for that level and wont learn anything more there

I agree he's a good player who will get better but him coming in shouldn't be to the detriment of Henderson who has the potential to be an even better player than Armstrong IMO.

Fair enough mate I understand that I just think Henderson should be in or around our team every week.

we shouldnt use the loan system for boys who aren't going to make it, pointless exercise. Use to to develop players who have a chance and get them playing week in week out at a decent level rather than playing in fairly uncompetitive u20 matches. First half of the season Henderson would've been better off out on loan at the right club than with us, from now it depends how much of s look in he's going to get in the next few months,

What is there to lose by putting the ones who might not make it out on loan?

Given the right backing and playing opportunities, Henderson will make it. I also think he could make it in a big way for us.

He's been with the club for a half dozen years or so, it's encouraging to see his potential has been developed to this stage. Much more to come I feel.

He was excellent on Saturday.

Although he started on the left, he seemed to have a bit of free reign as there were plenty times he ended up in the middle or even over on the right side of the pitch. I'd definitely be giving him a run of games.

Thought he was pretty poor to be honest. great goal though.
